Nice to hear that you had some good time here for businness!Rustika wrote:Hi everyone,
It was a real pleasure and an encouraging experience to meet with the top Brazilian Wazers last week in Sao-Paulo.
I was geniounly impressed by the great team of people who came to share their opinions and to be part of the event.
I believe the Brazilian community - which is the fastest growing amongst all Waze communities today - has already proven to be an engaged and dedicated group which is greatly contributing to the joined success of us all.
...So after a super-intensive week in Sao-Paulo and Rio, a very-long trip back home and a Huge backlog of items waiting for me -- I'd like to summarize and follow-up on the items discussed during our meeting last week.
So first - please accept my apology for the long delay and for lack of responsiveness to any inquiries over the last week since we've met in Sao-Paulo.
Here's the summary of the issues raised and discussed:
Map issues: the main issue raised was regarding the road-types and their affect over the routing-service.
Many cases of routes which prefer highways over prime-roads and make no sense
People suggested we add another road-type between a primary street and a minor highway
We might need to calibrate the routing algorithm BUT in order to look into this we MUST have examples for those cases
ACTION ITEM: please send us examples with permalinks and detailed routes
Radio-stations: we heard there are some very popular radio-stations broadcasting traffic reports. We will start a business dialoge with them.
Road-closures: a major issue in some local regions throughout the country. As discussed - our next client version should offer some control on a user-level, we will keep you posted about the progress.
Road-split and merge: people reported it created a U-turn instructions. As it seems like a bug (or a map problem) we would like to get examples for the location where it happens.
Traffic reports & alerts: people shared the notion that in some cases we're missing alerts on traffic jams. We are working to improve this and should have visible results in the very near future.
'Wish-list': people shared the following items they would like to see in the forthcoming versions -
- Road-type issues resolved
- Road-closures capabilities
- House-numbers update capabilities
- Road-split issues resolved
- Search by postal code
- Collaborations with radio stations
- Portuguese UI to the website
Forum: we would like to do the following -
Open a dedicated forum for Brazilian area-managers
Turn top-editors to country-managers and grant them rights for editing throughout the country
Add qualified editors to the international Waze-champs forum
Please comment or add your notes.
Thanks again for your great contribution and wonderful job!
Regards,
Chen/Rustika
In this meantime we had strenghten in numbers of editors and we are all more engaged to solve the map issues. This meeting really helped!
If you need some help to translate the website, I can say that at least the people that participate can help. You don't need to take all the work. =)
Your 3 last coments are something we really like to see and we have discussed it a lot in the past 2 weeks.
I think there is one more thing: take less time to update the maps with the corrections. It's something that will help people stay at Waze app, not to mention that there is a lot to fix and update after the map merge.
Just to add a note, we have a feeling that we are more partners now than ever!
I'm very glad to know both of you and some of the guys here.
Thank you!
