UPS delivery driver here. I love Waze's accurate ETA accounting for traffic and other delays. Allows me to give accurate information to my supervisor and the hub manager when they wonder when I will be returning.

Two things I hope to see in Waze someday: better support for routing trucks, and better instructions concerning destinations within apartment complexes.

Apart from what has been said about the heights also being added another feature that would help is a limit on the distance for whenever you put an address about 800miles away it doesn't acquire all of the reports...maybe the first 100miles, because sometimes it lags and takes forever to 'GO'. I usually also have to switch over to "trucker path" app to check the scales status, I'm sure just like any other report it would be a nice feature to have same way to report a car that's on the shoulder, about the same procedure to report a scale status. Another cool little feature would be a trucker mood and more levels after the 'royalty' to make it more entertaining. I had posted about this on my review but wanted to see what my fellow drivers thought about it.

This may be something more dependent on the community. There is an capability within the app tp have map conversations. It will look like a green icon. Perhaps as trucks pass by they can just add the time they passed the scale and give the status, eg. "4/27/17, 1236; open".

As for those who would like to see heights and weight limits added, there is the ability in the Waze Map Editor, the program used to edit the map itself, like adding new roads and places,or implementing closures on roads needing such, to add restrictions for certain vehicle types and notes for the reason(s) why. This doesn't show in the app yet, but would be laying the groundwork for making such info available. Another idea would be to leave reports near locations where over- and underpasses need to be marked with restrictions. Since the addition of restrictions to the map isn't a focus at the moment, many editors may reply to the request by saying, 'Waze doesn't support something like this.' So in your initial report, may need to add a simple note like 'Please don't delete until restrictions added, For testing.' If enough reports are generated, perhaps some more editors might help, and perhaps the higher level editors, namely the champs and managers may begin to take notice and focus on addressing these concerns.

There is no reason why you cannot load the database with height / weight restrictions, weight stations, no trucks allowed restrictions. Since waze is owned by Google why not merge the routing capabilities and longer distance capabilities (i.e. Over 1000 miles) together to make an incredible app. Heck I would even be willing to pay for the app for my phone.
I think users would welcome more interaction with the app. The ability to customize a route and drive that route with turn by turn directions would be a Godsend. There really isn't an app out there that does this (best I know of, not even google. Closest thing I have found so for with full custom route planning and directions is Ride With GPS ). I feel there is a large market out there that is longing for features like these.
Maybe they figure 'What's the use?' since robotrucks are coming.

If we the trucking community could find a script writer willing to develop a script that allows us to inform editors about height and weight restrictions, much as there was an unofficial speed limit reporter script added before Waze attempted to integrate the function within the app, and then spread the word amongst the trucking community you used Waze and report, could show how much it a demand there is as well as do much if ground work necessary to build underlying information infrastructure needed too add that information to the map.

For what it's worth I have added 'No' truck allowed" restrictions to some streets, it's just the app currently does not have a way to user the info, as the only "types" of vehicles are "personal" and "taxi". When using app under taxi, Waze looks for roads within editor that are reserved for taxis and Uber-type drivers are well as public transit that other vehicles cannot use. Again, commercial drivers haven't really asked for it from Waze, so editors and staff aren't focusing on it. We could change that quickly though, I believe.

For starters, probably should direct as many commercial drivers known to be using the app this forum. How many commercial drivers are even using the app?

I would like to see Waze ask through the app how many Wazers are commercial drivers, similar to how they ask whether we've seen a particular 3rd party advertiser's ads within Waze. Also, begin grassroots efforts to begin reporting weight and height limits using map problem option within app. Would take a large number of drivers doing so to catch attention.

Currently there are only two routing options "shortest" and "fastest". A third option could be "destination/stop on passenger side".

As a school bus driver we don't like to have our students cross the road when possible, it's unsafe. When dropping people it's usually faster to take a slightly longer route vs getting out of a vehicle and escorting them over, it's also easier on traffic. Even if it's not faster it's definitely more preferred. Also many times we can't make a U-turns very easily or safely.

The adresses are already there, only a routing algorithm is needed. The idea is simple for a two way street's that aren't dead ends. If a destination is on a cul de sac or dead end rather then ending the routing early as a left hand side, add a further u-turn instruction so it would end as a right hand side. The exemption would be one way streets.

This option not only works for school bus drivers but could work well for anyone who drops passengers off (uber, lyft, etc) and anyone who doesn't want to cross the street (parents with children, elderly).

As a recent truck license holder I was wondering if waze was going to or is going to add the option to add bridge heights or weight restrictions into waze?.
