Restricting Editing Rights to New Editors?

Post by CTCNetwork
Hi,

How many times have reports that are being monitored been closed by that "waze_user"(0)

How many times has a city location been changed from the correct one to an incorrect one.

And can someone please tell me HTF "Mapperley" is now in Nottinghamshire and been thrown out of Nottingham??!! I mean, what IDIOT did that?

I can see why I gave up for a while... :(

I am in total agreement with you Des.

I think that as a bare minimum new editors must sign up to the forums and agree to read their PM's.

I am little fed up with sending nice long PM's to new editors only for them to remain in the outbox never to be read !!!

Hi,

As above but I think that as a minimum to close reports users should be at least L2 editors and have signed an agreement of some sort.
Too many of the new editors just close reports as fixed - doing nothing - and getting the points for it.

We are fortunate in the UK to have a well edited mature map. We need to do what we can to protect this.

I feel that we have to many level 1 and 2 editors who come and go as quick as a blink of an eye.

Whilst we need to encourage new people, we also need to ensure that these people have a better understanding of the minimum standards.

We have a mentoring program and a practice editor. I'd suggest that before letting them loose they need to either been signed off by a mentor or have completed a specific amount of time in practice mode. I'd even go as far as to set a short test so we can see a level of competency.

From the presentation given at the conference this year HQ are well aware of the minimal support for new editors, the UK doesn't have an official mentoring program that I know of. The are also aware of the fact map editors are top heavy in rank and would like to encourage more L1 - L3 reliable editors. HQ is aiming to improve the new editor experience including being signed off by mentors to advance in rank etc.

*Summarised and paraphrased as much as possible to not fall foul of the confidentiality of the Waze conference.

I would think a feature that once a UR has been 'claimed' by an editor, it can not be closed by an editor of a lower level would solve some frustrations.

Hi Guys I have just been editing and it would be a great help if I could be mentored in the right way of the system. Is this something that could be done? I know all our time is very tight to all of us. I have just spent the last hour and have had fun and pleasure to adding to the system and making it better for all.
