I think we should have a Waze Ashes Trophy that gets presented to the first country (UK or Australia) that gets their state/county request satisfied.

Though I imagine most of us will have forgotten about it by the time it actually gets done. I've lost count of how many times it's been mentioned in the UK forums!

Do I have to reach a certain points total before the options become available or is it another app I need? BTW I'm using Android.
You will have an option to turn Road Recording on. Turn it on when you just before driving on to a road that isn't on the map, and turn it off again, when you have returned to a mapped road, and you can do so safely.

You will also find helpful information here:

One section around Hawthorndene already had some pieces, but didnt align very well in reality.
I have been trying to edit it to clean up, but I don't have enough privileges to create some of the sections.
Here it is below - a bit of a dog's breakfast around there, but I have sorted some of it out.

Is the right place to post these sorts of things for the Area Manager, or is there some other way I should do this.
cheers
If you turn on the Area Managers layer, you can see that the area manager is ryancurnow

If you then do an advanced search in the forum for that author name, you'll see Ryan is an active member of the forums. So you can send him a PM

I live down south and do a lot of driving in the Hills and Fleurieu, so will at least be able to get some of those main routes in.
Not sure how much time will be needed to then do the updates, but will do what I can.
cheers

Don't feel you have to do all the updates yourself. Never be put off recording roads because you don't know if or when you can edit them on the website. They'll wait for you. Or someone else will get to them.

I find new road records are a good indicator of where I should focus my map editing efforts. I like to know that where I'm adding roads will actually be used by someone. And I know other map editors feel the same.

I've just discovered why they don't: http://www.waze.com/faq/#18
Not sure I can agree with them, as there are other commercial enterprises using OSM happliy.
I think the big issues are:
a) just how Waze can contribute updates back to OSM (seems a difficult technical problem to me)
b) how Waze can make money by selling their enhanced map information later on

Other commercial enterprises aren't getting map updates, or have a different business model.

But OSM is in the process of changing their license, which may open the way for Waze to use their data.

1. When I add a point of interest and I realise that the shape is not quite right I don't have access to edit it. I know that St Ignatius Senior College Athelstone and Thorndon Park aren't right but I can't fix them.

2. Once 2 roads are connected there seems to be no way to disconnect them. I know that Stoneybrook Drive Paradise doesn't connect to Gorge Road OR to Schulze road but rather to Hamilton Terrace but I can't disconnect them.

I'd be happy to become a moderator for Paradise, Athelstone and Newton in order to fix these and other problems.
1. This is a known problem
2. You can learn how to disconnect a road from a junction here

Where you can also read about other known issues with Cartouche and find out how to apply to be an Area Manager

Sorry Ryan, didn't mean to jump in on your area. You're doing a super awesome job as Area Manager and community booster. I've been admiring your work. Did want to get a plug in for the Wiki. @yellek seems keen and I reckon he could gain a lot from the Wiki.

OK I've added a few roads in the Paradise Athelstone area, I'll wait to see whether they appear. I also added a few POIs (Thorndon Park etc) but when I go back to them I can't edit them. I assume an area manager needs to get to them?

A few questions on mapping:

What do people do with:

roundabouts
roads that go from divided back to 2 way
the O-bahn
Junctions that split turns into different lanes (e.g the corner of Gorge and Maryvale roads in Athelstone)
