UK editing resources links

Post by atrophicshiner
Please would you wonderful lot help populate the UK Editor Resources page with the links you use when investigating local or regional information. These can be anything from town / city to county wide websites or national utility companies.

I'm looking for the most direct link to the following info, not generic website, take a look what is already listed for inspiration;
  • Traffic regulation orders / Public Notices (TROs, TMOs, Stopping up orders)
  • Roadworks lists / sheets
  • Planning links (preferably maps)
  • Highways records (confirms what the authority is responsible for)
  • anything else... keep it relevant and useful.
I am not looking for regional links to roadworks.org as they do not provide any more detail than the national website. If you list the links in this thread I'll get around to adding them to the Wiki page and thank each post when I've done so. It would help if you try to add as many links to each post as possible, multiple links to the same authority is fine, but don't add any more once I've thanked the post or it'll likely get missed.

Added both to the highways column, which are very helpful, both have street records, speed limits, and Bristol also includes speed cameras and EV charge points.

@Steve, I've added the Bedford map, I couldn't find any layers that provided anything beyond the basemap which is useful in itself.

@Chris, I've revamped the NI Wazeo page and added all your links.

Thanks both :)

You're quite correct, there appears to be a couple of off-the-shelf maps for LAs to use, you'll find the majority of planning maps on the resource page use the idox solution. Both links added.

Localised Surrey (Runnymede map) http://maps.runnymede.gov.uk/website/maps/index.html

All are scroll/zoomable down to house number level.

I also use Post Code finder http://www.postoffice.co.uk/postcode-finder to point out limitations of post codes, i.e. multiple addresses, as navigation destinations.

I know of a couple of detailed maps that are quite similar to the planning maps, but differ in that they are easier to use being full-size (not being confined to a tiny viewport), offer additional info layers (like boundaries, car parks and local amenities, useful for checking/updating Waze places) but with the caveat that the data can lag the planning maps by several months. Occasionally I've found a planning maps server to be unavailable, so having these GIS maps might also be a handy backup. Perhaps add these to the Other column in the wiki?

Hey,

Not sure if you’re interested in resources for Northern Ireland, but here are some resources that I use:

Most information goes through national websites since the roads are managed by DfI, so it wouldn’t be possible to break these down any further.
Some local council sites with other info:
Hope this helps
