That is quite interesting. I had a situation where a location ~20-30 miles from my current location was not updating when viewing in the app, but when I routed to it, the tiles updated and when I went to view it, the updated information was there. It could be that beyond a certain tile radius it doesn't update until you get there, so swiping through it will help it force the downloads. Unsure exactly how the app is doing it or maybe it has changed over time too.

Have you tried just viewing the Overview to see if that will download the other tiles before start your drive? or do you have to be zoomed in to a certain level?

I have to do the same when taking long routes from Michigan into Wisconsin. Mid point becomes Chicago but back to the topic, I never see higher than 500 MB in a given month for data usage. I don't do anything out of the ordinary for data saving techniques either

I'd recommend clearing your cache and reinstalling the app.

pascal_bdx wrote:Hello gentlemen,

Like you, I noticed after July 15 a significant increase in the consumption of my mobile data. After doing some tests, and being helped by Google's Dataly application, I noticed that each time Waze was launched, about 20 MB of data was retrieved on my Android phone. After looking for what this data could be, I finally found: Waze repatriates at each launch the language files located in the Waze folder. It renames those already present with a double character ~~ and redownloads these same files. Total download: 26 MB at each launch. If you launch Waze 4 times a day (which is fast when you move), it is fast 100 MB per day, 3 GB per month! I hope the Waze team is working on the problem, because personally I have tried everything: uninstall Waze cleanly, reinstall it, delete my data, etc. The problem is systematic ... And I do not see how get myself out of it. I guess since July 15th, a script is causing this bug on some user accounts (since everyone is not concerned) ...

Great find! Have you submitted this to Waze support? It's unlikely they are aware of this since it has not yet been fixed

pascal_bdx wrote:No, because I admit I do not know how to do it, I'm not really used to communicating with the Waze team. I use the software, that's all. In addition, I am French and I am not very comfortable with English (there is the translation of Google for example). But if you want to tell them, do not worry. I am not the owner of the solution.

Also helps to turn on debug mode and submit logs

Make sure to report your issues to Waze support. This is becoming clear to be an issue with the Android app

pascal_bdx wrote:Personally, yesterday evening I did a copy and paste of what I found and reported on this forum, to support Waze. I received an automatic acknowledgment of receipt on my email address. I hope that an analysis will be made seriously and that they will find what causes the problem that obviously affects a lot of people in Android.
They will don't worry. But carefully read the response they sent. Most times, they send an auto response based on the info you sent them and they assume it solves your issue unless you reply to them saying otherwise.

That's a weird response for sure. I just checked my responses from them previously and it seems they just sent me info in most cases.

Encourage as many Android users to submit reports to Waze Support. Hopefully it'll be clear that there is an issue.
