Blocked Gate

Post by lhpruitt
Georgetown, TX - Sun City sales and model park.
Hills of Texas Trl traverses the sales and model park. Per Livemap one can be routed from end to end. There are "no outlet" signs at each end of Hills of Texas Trl. https://www.waze.com/en-US/editor?env=u ... 7,81287448

There are four locked gates in the sale and model park. See the attached screen shot.

Would it be appropriate to use blocked gates in these cases?

Are cars not allowed to drive in the "blocked" area at all?

Are you able to discuss this in Discord? It would be easier to figure out exactly how to set this up

Ok,

I would suggest:
Pulling Node A of this segment back to the gate.

Pulling Node B of this segment back to the gate.

Changing these segments to PLRs with no street name

I would also suggest adding an area map comment covering the road area to explain that it is for pedestrian traffic only and a map comment point between the newly converted PLRs and Node B of the the second PL above.

Let me know if you want me to take care of it or if you will get it done.

Thanks, Since I was actually referring to adding a map comment and not an area place, I rejected the area place you created.

I added the map comment to the map explaining why there is no street there and not to connect any streets.

Good job on everything.

The blocked area is primarily for pedestrians looking at the model homes. Cars are not allowed.

I have disconnected the segments as recommended and changed three links to PLR with no street name. As a Level 1 editor, I am not able to delete the PLR links as suggested.

I have added an area place for the pedestrian only area.

Thanks for your help. This has been a good learning experience. When I moved to Sun City 7 years ago I still worked for NAVTEQ. One of the first things I did was add gates to block routing thru Hills of Texas Trl.

I noticed that you cleaned up some named parking lot road issues near the Sun City Social Center. I have no idea where those names came from. I have a pending update related to moving a place point: https://www.waze.com/en-US/editor?env=u ... 80.1847122

The address of the Social Center is 2 Texas Drive. The marker is currently on the wrong side of Texas Drive.

Thanks.
