Hi APAC Community,

We are excited to announce that the MTE Up challenge in your region will begin on February 10th! :D
The challenge will run for 8 weeks and end on April 6th.

Why join your region’s challenge? MTEs help keep users in your community informed about road closures and events. By submitting MTEs you’re not only helping your community but you’ll also get great recognition amongst fellow editors for your efforts!

To share ideas, ask questions and chat with other editors in your region about the challenge feel free to join this discord channel.

If you don’t have permission to create closures or MTEs and would like to participate in this challenge, MTE Marshals and Community Coordinators will be working together to temporarily grant you these permissions. Please fill out this form to request the closures permissions and someone will reach out to you through private direct message in the forum with next steps.

Join the MTE Up Challenge webinar
Next week (Wednesday 5th) we will hold a webinar to kick off the challenge, go over its rules and answer any doubts before the launch date. Register here.

You can find the challenge FAQs here.

----------

What’s the MTE Up Challenge? The MTE Up Challenge is an event to encourage active and new editors to use the MTE & closures features in order to improve local experiences.

Sound familiar to the 2017 Awazeing Race? It is! The main difference is that in 2020 the event will run at different points throughout the year with separate events for each region (five events total). During these events the communities come together, joining forces in a mapraid-like challenge.

What’s so special about this event? There will be a leaderboard to show which countries and editors are leading in the challenge, there are rumors of some awesome badges or swag for winners, and you’ll get a whole lot of love from your community!

The first two challenges will kick off in February for the APAC and Brazil communities and will run for 8 weeks. We are aiming to run each challenge during a region’s warmer months when events season tends to pick up!

We will announce the dates for the NA, LATAM and EMEA MTE Up challenges once the APAC and Brazil challenges wrap up.

Don’t have closure permissions? Don’t worry! MTE Marshals will be available to mentor you and we will be introducing a process to provide temporary closure permissions to editors who are mentored. We will share a form to submit your request for temporary permissions a few weeks before your communities challenge launches.

Rules of the race
* All editors who submit events in regions that are live throughout the race will automatically be included.
* Not sure which region the country you edit in belongs to? Checkout the breakdown on this sheet.

Questions? Comments? Ideas? Let us know below!

Good luck!

Hey APAC Community!

As a reminder, the MTE Up Challenge launches TODAY, February 10th, and will run through April 6th! Are you ready?!

If you weren’t able to make it to the Webinar check out the recording here. All editors who submit MTEs during this time will automatically be entered into the event.

The leaderboard is already live where you can track results and stats in real time.

Important: bear in mind this announcement with the changes to the closures feature.

We will keep you updated with communications in this forum, and also in this discord channel where we you’re all invited to participate by sharing ideas and feedback.

We are looking forward to seeing the great impact this will have on the mobility of our countries.

On your marks... get set... go!

Dear MTE Up participants,

Over the last weeks we have been witnessing the amazing efforts in mapping MTEs across your regions.

The numbers speak for themselves and we could not be more grateful!

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, and the cancellation of most MTEs globally, we believe that the right thing to do is to pause the challenge until the situation calms down.
Do not worry, the data has been saved and you’ll be able to pick up where you left off when the time is right again (paused on March 16).

In the meantime we would like to THANK YOU for your participation! If you would like to learn more about how to get involved in Waze’s response to COVID-19 visit our website here.

Keep safe!

I edit in the United Kingdom. Why am I getting invites on my Feed to join this?
The UK isn't listed on the sheet.
