New! MENTORING FEATURE is now open in production

Post by HeziBez
Hello all,

After quite a long time, we are thrilled to announce that the MENTORING feature is now open in production :D

WHAT IS MENTORING FEATURE or WHY MENTORING?

Mentoring main goal is to reach out to new users, making them feel a part of the community.
In addition, the WME is a complex tool, that can be confusing. Mentoring will help to make sure new editors are aligned with the community editing rules.
The mentoring feature allows the first exposure and connection with those new editors

WHO CAN BE A MENTOR?

You can ask your community leadership to become a mentor, requests will be depended on the community approval.

WHO ARE THE MENTEES?

A potential mentee is any new editor who logged in to WME, and made his first edit.
A mentor will be able to see on his potential mentees list new editors from the last 30 days in his region/ country.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO BECOME A MENTOR?

In order to become a mentor, you need to ask your community leadership to submit a CAR request for you, which will be processed within 1-3 days.

HOW DOES THE FEATURE WORK?

You can find all the details in the following presentation

****New mentors are more then welcome to join the Mentoring FORUM

****Last but not least, we want to take this opportunity, and THANK Orbit from the US community for leading the mentoring program and helping us with the feature launch.

We hope you’ll find this feature useful and exciting,
Good luck and happy mentoring

I assume the mentoring features are only visible to Mentors, and there are no features to assist Mentees. I looked at my own Profile, and don't see my Mentor listed :-). This seems to be aimed strictly at brand new editors and doesn't address the whole Mentoring program.

Any chance to allow Mentoring of editors already registered in the past?

Frequently I find editors that have performed few edits, long time ago, and that require the same Mentoring as newbies... It would be a good option to teach them

There have been other ways to find new editors, of course, but this will make it much easier to catch them at the very beginning. Thanks for all the work and testing so far on this!
