Electric Vehicle type now available in the app
Waze enabled a new vehicle type in the production app today to support zero emission vehicles. This coincides with the introduction of restrictions by the City of London on the underground B100 - Beech St from tomorrow, 18th March, which imposes a ban on non-zero emission vehicles using it as a through route. The ban is in place all day every day.
Non-zero emission vehicles are permitted to use Beech St to reach either the Barbican Centre Car Park or the residential or Trade Centre car parks, and also to leave via Beech St, but the time of arrival and departure will be recorded and, if too close together, result in a £150 fine being levied. The map has been updated to support this and Waze will only provide through routing along the road for vehicles which have the Electric vehicle type setting, or for any vehicle to the car parks.
There is also a zero-emission zone in Shoreditch on the Hackney/Islington border which is operational during peak hours Monday-Friday and which also supports routing only for the electric vehicle type.
