Community Office Hours!

Post by BellVillense
Dear Community,

I hope this message finds you well, hopefully at home and safe.
As we had to cancel and postpone many of our meetups due to the current situation, we believe in the importance of enhancing our online communication & knowledge sharing during these times.

This is why we are launching monthly Community-wide Office Hours! :o
Each month I will be joined by a Community Manager who will be leading the session about a specific topic or feature, together with a specialist within Waze followed by an open Q&A.

Everyone is invited!
*All levels
*All communities

We are starting next Sunday March 22nd. Register here, where you will be able to see your local time.
We tried to make sure that the time will be convenient for most of you, but we are aware that for some of you it might be too early/late. This is why we will be recording and sending it so you are able to watch it later.

For this month Hezi will be discussing the COVID-19 crisis' taskforce and for this Maiyan from the Localization team will be joining us as well. In addition we’ll be opening up to a general Waze-related Q&A.

As usual there will be time, and we encourage you to ask questions and participate in the session.

Please register HERE, and make sure to share it within your community.

See you guys soon!

Dear Community,

We would like to thank you for joining us in our 1st Community Office Hours!
As the Community Team we felt moved by all your participation and I personally really enjoyed it!

We are going for more!
Next Office Hours > Register here and spread the word!

Session #1 - COVID-19 taskforce
Missed it? Don't worry, you can watch this session here.
Please make sure to leave us your feedback here.

In this session I was joined by Hezi (from the Community team) and Maiyan (from the Localization team), who presented our current COVID-19 taskforce.
All information contained in this forum post (accessible to Coordinators).

Q&A
Questions we promised to follow up on (some are still in progress):
*ETA & Holidays related questions: we are currently working on improving this and we will inform once it's launched to production. Currently we might need to wait a few days for the statistics to adjust themselves.
*Police: it's important that if you have a concern about it you let us know through the dedicated form included in Hezi's post, and we will make sure to address them with the relevant teams.
*Places Open Hours: we are checking what's the best solution, as we understand the need. There are many teams involved so we will update about this.
*Editor chat disappears: we are working on it.
*Parking lots: this is currently not prioritized.
*Reporting tool's impossibility to choose direction: Please send us this issue, if you have opened a bug in CC or contacted support team so we can follow up on this.
*Issues with Search and Google Maps: we understand there might be some bugs recently so we are investigating.
We’re currently working on this, keep on reporting in CC.

Questions we weren’t able to answer during the Office hours:
*Lucas: Some countries have restrictions (quarantine) in place. Is there any statistical data of displacement reduction (traffic) x virus expansion?! If yes, maybe CCP partnership like government agencies or universities?!
Partners should contact Waze for Cities support about this if they require information.
*Rafael: sub cities ETA??
No plans to add subcities to WME for the community to map. However, Map Suggest (new functionalities in Autocomplete) has a similar functionality built in that we may benefit from in the future for Waze results. It would use Google subcities.
*Orbit: I have a CCP Partner who wants to alert users using audio alert about the changes due to current situation COVID 19 they are looking at going All Electric Tolling (AET) in the next day or week. What this means is they will be tolling by plate at all of locations that have been effected. they need to get the message out to the their customers to avoid crashed and issues.
Basically the custom audio alert we've been promised few times in the past (including CEO Noam)
Custom audio alerts are not planned. If there are Covid-related changes, please add this to the COVID form and we will check if there is something we can help with.
*Donal: What does MTE stand for?
It stands for Major Traffic Events. You can read more about it here.
*Juerg: Hello! The penalties for the different street types seem to be too big. Thus the routing e.g. the primary streets are most time not used. Can there be made a adjustment?
Keep in mind that roads we consider at different parts of the route are highly dependent on the context of your route. For example, on some parts of a relatively long route, we wouldn’t necessarily consider a primary street as a good option, when we could route a user over a higher level road, such as a free way. Please make sure to check in with your local community to learn more about how routing works. In case you identify an issue with your community leaders, we will need specific examples for this.
*Lubin: Will iPhone users be able to report things on road with Siri in the future?
In our current roadmap we are planning to roll out Google Assistant to more platforms and languages. Other services such as Siri will be considered in the future as well.

Stay safe & healthy and see you next month!

Dear Community,

Thank you for joining us in another successful session of Office Hours.

Although most of you answered that 2020 will be remembered for COVID-19 I personally join the second most popular choice as I believe Lanes will be relevant for waaay longer than COVID-19 and will be definitely more positive! :D

Q&A
We had a huge amount of questions (we are working on testing a different method next time).
Here are the answers to the questions we weren't able to answer live.

Keep safe and see you today!

Great idea!!

Will you open a form to ask questions previously?
Can voting be disabled in Bigmarker Q&A? The votes move the questions on our side and it is difficult to follow them...
