RRT - Integrating activity - Healthcare
As this action was described in the April newsletter, I would like to take more details:
--
On August 25, 2019, a challenge was launched by RRT group for the Brazilian community!!! And it had the best possible result!
First of all, what is RRT?
It is the high volume/quality group of editors called Rapid Response Team, a project created in 2016 by champs @FernandoAReis and @scarlogarcia, to operate in urgent needs or crisis situations, whether climatic, urgent changes or even map vandalism. The group, actually coordinated by the @cleitoncasarotto and @mikemachado, Brazilian LCs, conducts specific training tasks when not in urgent activity and, for the first time, conducted a activity open to all BR editors!
And what a task: Review hospitals, health clinics and emergency services locations throughout Brazil! The data from official government sources generated 52,000 review points !!!
That's where our tireless editors came in: Regardless of level, area, knowledge, everyone was called in and donated part of their time in an activity that would not earn ranking, giveaways, highlights… Just one benefit: They would help at least one person who, in an emergency and/or life-threatening situation, would find precisely and quickly the nearest place of care!!
The task was without numeric goals, after all each item needed a lot of research to be found, but with a maximum deadline for activity evaluation: 30 days!
And the result couldn't be more surprising: 59 editors accepted the challenge and reviewed 5,160 service locations in the period! In most cases, the places were unmapped and required an average of 20min between information search and map location !!!
In addition, we highlight some facts that occurred during the task:
- Mutual help between editors was the key! Many editors seek help from local publishers to find information;
- Several editors found great sources of research and passed them to everyone else. Spreadsheets were improving due to the collaboration of everyone in helping;
- We already had requests to update places created during the task, demonstrating that users were already using them!
And the most amazing? The spreadsheets are still open to everyone and, since the end of the task until today (09/04/2020), have been reviewed more 4.970 locations !!!
It is this kind of movement that demonstrates the sense of community: All helping each other for the common good, without seeking personal gain !!!
