Bow, Greater London Unlock request

Post by imdag2
Hi Editors,

I would like to be able to edit the following segment(s).
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Permalink: https://waze.com/editor?env=row&lat=51. ... =304555873
Reason: the road has been restricted to 7.5 tones as well as a new 20mph speed limit.
Unlock to level: 4

Thank you in advance,

Hi,

Thanks for stepping up to help us improve the map here.  Before we proceed though, I think we need to be sure of what it is we need to do.

Firstly, both the segment selected in the permalink you've provided here, as well as the one in your other request post (viewtopic.php?f=375&t=324608) are currently set to level 4, so there'd be no need to unlock them to L4 as you've requested.

Secondly, based on the bits of information I've found so far about the works which have caused these temporary restrictions to be applied, the 20 MPH limit would apply to far more sections of road than the two segments selected here, so it's unclear why you've only highlighted those two as requiring changes.

Thirdly, please note that whilst reducing the speed limit is something we can accomodate in Waze, we have no way of marking the weight limit, so it will not be possible to prevent Waze from still trying to route users of larger vehicles through here.

I'd appreciate it if you could provide clarification over the actual extent of the segments that need the new limit applied, as well as the unlock level required - once it's clear what actually needs to be done, we can get on and help you do it  :D

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris.

sorry I’m new to editing the map. And I was trying To edit on a phone which is why I haven’t highlighted the whole road. When I clicked the map it would only highlight part of the road.

the section that needs the speed limit change is from bow flyover all the way until Stratford roundabout.

the works are due to be taking place for 30 months. So will be a semi permanent change.

Trying to edit the maps on a phone is a frustrating exercise even for an experienced editor, and there are some things you can't do at all, so I'd strongly advise you to wait until you can access WME via a desktop/laptop browser before trying any further editing.

As you've now confirmed you're a new editor, it's safe to assume the segments will need to be unlocked to level 1, which has now been done on all the segments selected in the following permalink:

https://waze.com/en-GB/editor?env=row&l ... ,399238844

Please let me know once you've finished updating the speed limits, so that we can return these segments to their usual lock levels again.

I had to go to Westfield Stratford today, so took advantage of the journey to video (Galaxy S20 held on the front grab rail upstairs on a No. 25 bus) the A118 from Bow Church to Stratford and back again. Eastbound, the 20mph limit starts at the end of the flyover and goes all the way to the junction with Great Eastern Rd with regular repeaters on the lamp-posts, but nothing painted on the road. Coming back, there are regular 20mph repeaters, but they die out west of Sugar House Ln although there's no 30mph sign until exiting from the Bow roundabout onto Bow Rd. I don't know if there's a 30mph sign on the flyover as I didn't go over that, but there is clearly some confusion possible as to the boundary where the 20mph limit ends. I've left the whole road at level 1 lock so you can make any further corrections needed, particularly where the 30mph limit recommences. Have you come across any publicity about the change which might give better information about that? Ideally, the Traffic Order that would have been published in local newspapers or on the council website would provide that. I think all the side roads remain at 30mph but I was focussed on the High St so didn't check all of them.

The works on the Greenway bridge are due to last to 30 Apr 2023, so we can consider the speed limit change as permanent.

I'm happy to make the videos available on Google Drive if they'll help.
