That depends on what's being deleted, sometimes. If I find one parking lot all strung out on massive doses of everyaisle, but no other evidence of that editor doing the same all around, I'll think it a 1-off. However, if I find several instances, or lots of red roads, I will compose a PM.

In general, though, yes, a direct contact would be appropriate etiquette. I look forward to being able to do this within the editor and not via PM in the forums.

I can't answer that. But it is, or has been, on the roadmap. Or, well, it has been discussed and Waze appears to know it is an important part of community.

Oh, and if I send you a PM to let you know of something I plan on deleting, such as parking lot spam, and then, after you read my PM you continue to do the same thing, I will delete it all again in the future without sending a PM. I'll likely contact Waze to send you an official notice, though.

When you sign up for waze, a forum account is created that is linked to the email provide during the sign up. The default settings on the forum is to send you an email to alert you that a PM has been sent.

Unfortunately, I am not sure this is same with the facebook-only signups, but given the number of users with world_ and usa_ accounts who are showing up in the forums under same, it appears this generic account is getting created in the forums. And 2nd unfortunately, you don't have to provide a valid email address to Waze. <- I have bitched about that for years now. It is unfathomable to me that a "social" system of any kind is allowing users on with no valid way to contact them. Email address verification should be mandatory, IMO. You're signing up on your smartyphone with access to your email right there.

Well, I guess I would simply urge editors to go ahead and send the PM even in this circumstance. As the map gets more complete and there are more and more users, adding parking lot lanes and landmarks are going to be precisely the types of edits that I would expect to see from those new to waze (especially as there are more and more locks on the existing roads). I really think the better experience is to get the PM from the experienced editor that has noticed your parking lot work (even if it explains why it is unnecessary and detrimental) rather than simply see the work disappear with no trace.

That and map annotations would both be godsends.
