Thank you for helping to make 2021 an amazing year for the WME Community!
We take your feedback very seriously, and in order to advance our goals of increasing transparency and taking your feedback earlier in the development process, we’d like to start sharing with you updates to our Roadmap a few times a year.
So to kick it off, we thought we’d take this opportunity to update you on what we’ve accomplished this year, and what lies in store as we finish it out.
Here are some of the major updates we’ve introduced:
- Tile Builder Popup
- Roadshields

- JB on Roundabouts - JBRA
- New WME Header
- Improved Element History
- New tutorial videos in practice mode
- Road Width (Now in Beta)
- New Road and Cities Layers in ROW, NA, IL
- New Zoom Levels in ROW (Now in Beta)
- New GPS layer (Now in Beta)
- Implemented the #1 suggestion in UserVoice - RS on Alternate Street
- Improved stability and performance
- 15 Community Suggestions implemented! - See Below:
So far this year, out of the 205 suggestions we received, 15 suggestions have been implemented either to Beta or Prod (which is the most in one year since the start of Waze!):
- RoadShields on alternative streets - This was our #1 suggestion!
- Show house numbers in elements history when updated - House Number updates now display in element history.
- Closures: Repeat next day - Added a button to repeat closures the next day.
- Duplicate Closures - Added a button to duplicate Closures.
- Add object type to Unlock Request to forum message - The object type now appears in automated forum messages for Unlock Requests.
- Allow linking of 20 Google places - You can now link up to 20 entrances to Google Places.
- Respect newlines/paragraphs in the initial base text of Map Comments - Added paragraph structure to make comments easier to read.
- One-click away access to snapshot mode - A faster and easier way to check snapshot mode, saving you one click.
- Unlink waze.com site from new header - We prevented any unnecessary confusion by unlinking waze.com from the header, which is not clickable now.
- Change Tile Build Status title from USA to NA - More accurately describes the environment.
- Add Restriction details to Segment history - Editors are now able to see all changes to restrictions in Segment history.
- Have the option to choose to leave the previous Map Build - Created a toggle on screen to keep the Tile Build popup in place.
- More Zoom Levels - Allowing easier and faster map navigation.
- Add an item under the Place menu for RPP - We deleted the step of converting a place to residential, saving time and clicks.
- Allow easy search by letter in the dropdown menu of RS for Streets - Many communities have more than 50 Shield designs, so an easy search by letter saves time and prevents editors from having to scroll until finding the right shield.
- More Community Suggestions, including adding name labels on Places, and a place icons refresh.
- A new virtual vertex to move segments: this will improve the experience of editing long segments
- Issues Tracker: Phase 1
- WME Advanced preferences defaults to prevent mistakes by new editors:
- "Draw new roads as two-way"
- "Draw new roads with all turns allowed"
But what we are most thankful for, is YOU!
