New Reporting Tool launched!

Post by
Hey everyone,

As part of the work on the new Partner Hub and tools, the Reporting Tool has been revised and improved - and is now available to Partners and Editors alike. This is in large part thanks to you, the map editors, who provided feedback about bugs and issues with the old tool.

Please note that you need to be a Level 4 Editor and ask your community leaders for access to the tool.

The team did not change the tool or add new features - They rewrote the code to align it with current Waze tools, and to make it stable and working smoothly. If you do encounter any problems or have any feedback please share it with your community manager.

Thanks!

Noam

Will there be a possibility to open a chit chat? Up until now, that was the easiest way to address our wazers directly. Interactive, fast and solution-oriented.

Hello folks, I have encountered some issue with regards to the reporting tool:
  1. Cannot choose which direction to set the alert on the tool so that the appropriate lane direction of travel will be notified via the pop up on the app. e.g Say a pothole is on the lead heading west on a 2 way road. Editors should be able to accurately input which direction the pothole is going to be encountered. Wazers who are travelling East should not get the pop up.
  2. If for some reason multiple alerts of close together (they could be at different roads) it is impossible to delete any one of the reports. (see e.g here https://www.waze.com/reporting?lat=10.2 ... 25&zoom=17)
  3. Sometimes its a hit or miss with reports. Even though you set an alert, regardless of the direction of the user. No alerts pop up.

Already posted somewhere else, but I'll repeat it here:

The new tool still has some bugs from the old ones, such as:
- "Hazard on Road" appears twice in the Road Hazard's subtypes list.
- "Can't set magvar" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_declination - defaults to 0), which causes the Waze app to alert drivers only if they are heading north (north = value is 0) when approaching the alert.
- Alerts nearby get merged into one baloon and can't then be removed.

There were problems with the reporting tool that when submitting an alert, you couldn't specify in which direction the alert would occur. The alerts often affected the wrong direction.

How is this handled with the reworked Reporting Tool or do you have plans for fixing that?
(I mean setting up speed cams in WME works quite well with set directions).

Now after watching the Office Hours, Staff requested examples. I think this an issue which is not depending on specific occasions but on a generel basis.
How can we reliably add reports on two-way mapped roads, but only to give an alert for one direction (let's say A->B)? That is the main issue. When placing a report in the middle of that two-way segment it may happen that the alert pops up in the client direction B->A.

Hello everyone, I wanted to propose a new type of alert, the possibility of reporting a mobile speed meter. What do you think?Giampiero

Direction of the alerts are a HUGE problem.
I have a fellow editor that is keen on investigating this matter, and that could help devs with a solution. He worked in a script for the old reporting tool. If the request to the API to insert an alert could include the magvar field or if that field could be added. According to him it would solve the issue.
So the same solution could or should be implemented in the tool itself.

Alerts are working fine

There is a small bug in the editor profile:

Hey jemay, just to clarify - you have access to all of the US but these states are now missing?

When you look at the overlay, it chops part of those states.  if you are saying that the tool is using the state information and not the physical defined area then we are good.
