Roadmap Share - Q2 April - May 2022

Post by Vespucci41
Hi All,

As part of our effort to be more transparent and share as early as possible the items that the team will work on, we’d like to update that some teams have been restructured to better address our vision and priorities. Due to this restructuring, it’s taken us a bit longer than usual to finalize our yearly planning process.

But let’s get to the most interesting part - what are we going to work on in the upcoming months till mid 2022?

The following are the main Map Team focus items for Q2 2022:
  • Far Lanes on JBs (phase 1) finalize the rollout in WME and client:
    • Current status:
    • Available in Prod IL
    • Available in Beta NA
    • Available in Beta ROW
  • Far Lanes phase 2 - In phase 2 it will be possible to create “paths” without the need for a junction box, and define lane guidance for them.
  • Permanent Hazards - We started defining requirements for the permanent hazards feature and the team will work on outlining the technical design for the mapping flows. We started redefining this from scratch so you will probably find it different from what was shared a few years back.  We’re hoping to share mockups with you over the coming months.
  • Issue Tracker - The issue tracker will help editors better monitor and manage all the requests coming from drivers URs, PURs and map problems. The first phase will include URs only. We plan to start rolling out to WME beta and gather initial feedback.
  • New WME Menu - The UX team is working on refreshing the look and feel of the WME interface and we are planning to update the side menu. Some changes are already in Beta and we are working together with the beta editors and scripters to make sure the new design will improve the overall editing experience.
  • Community Requests - We will keep focusing on prioritizing community suggestions, so keep adding and upvoting in UserVoice! We will also focus on investigating functionalities currently available through scripts, to make them native to the WME thanks to our Scripter Community.
  • New Regression Checker - A faster and more reliable version of the regression checker is already in Beta being tested and once ready will be rolled out to all.
  • Infrastructure & Security work - the team will continue focusing on stability and reliability of the WME to ensure the best level of service.

We cannot wait to see these new features and improvements in your hands, receive your feedback and work together to improve the Waze Map Editor and the Waze Map.  :D

Thank you,
Ruben, on behalf of the Map Squad
