🕓 📢  Daylight Saving Time > Standard Time
Daylight saving time just ended in Australia, please keep in mind the current editing cutoff will be impacted by one hour for most editors. Please verify your cutoff time below:

LOCAL CUTOFFS BY TIME ZONE
- Eastern: 4pm AEST
- Central:  3:30pm ACST
- Western: 2pm AWST

Make sure to wrap up your work prior to the times listed above if you want to see those edits live in the app the next day.
Do not to leave edits with disconnected segments or turns not yet dealt with just prior to the cutoff.

📢 Your vote is needed in the first-ever Waze + Community Hackathon!

What's a hackathon?
Google says it's "an event in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming". In our case, groups of Community members and Waze Staff members will meet (online) to engage in collaborative feature development 🙂

Waze CEO, Neha Parikh, is launching a hackathon event. Waze and the community will work together in teams to brainstorm innovative ideas for new and existing features. The winning team's idea will be implemented into the product, with other participation prizes along the way.

Just as a teaser, over the next few weeks, we will ask YOU to:

1. Pitch ideas related to the winning theme. Don't wrack your brain for ideas just yet, we'll be sharing the criteria in a few weeks!
2. Create groups of Community members to represent each idea, and apply to participate
3. If your idea gets chosen - we'll ask you to present your idea in an Office Hours session

And then... on June 21-22, 2022 - meet staff (online!) for the actual hackathon, for 4 hours each day, to discuss your idea!

Why run a hackathon?
Pair Waze staff with our super users (aka YOU!) to deepen our partnership and bring your ideas to life, to innovate on new or existing features based on a common theme, have fun connecting w/Wazers, and spark awesome new ideas

What's the outcome?
The winning team’s idea will be implemented!

Watch Waze CEO Neha talk about the Communities Hackathon here:

Step 1️⃣ - pick a theme!

📢📆 New schedule for WME Releases

Waze is piloting a new schedule for WME Releases with the aim of increasing development speed and bug resolution time.

We are planning to release beta versions every Tuesday (available for WME Beta testers only) . This will allow us to fix and deploy bug fixes and features faster. Additionally, the idea is to detect and fix regression bugs and prevent them from reaching production.  Previously, beta versions were released every 2 weeks, approximately.

If stable, we are planning to release production versions every Monday. The objective of this change is to be able to release versions that will be more stable, and skip the production release if there are critical bugs or regressions in beta. Previously, production versions were released every 2 weeks, approximately.

📢 ⏫ Today, @Vestigal🍁 (5) - Kurt, @BTStar (5), and I are extremely pleased to welcome @GBSpeedy1305 (5) - Geoff to the Australian leadership team and congratulate him on his promotion to @Local Champ!

Geoff has been a part of the Australian community since 2017 and joined us in 2018 when we revamped the Australian editing community. He's known for his mentoring, support and of course, love of basketball. 😊 🏀 In his role as country manager and senior editor, he has provided his insight and contributed to community development and Australian editing policy. Please join us in congratulating @GBSpeedy1305 (5) - Geoff on his new role! 👏

In other news, the much-revered and loved @BTStar (5), after years in the saddle as a @Local Champ has decided to step down. BT will retain the title of Emeritus Champ for all of his service to Waze and the Australian editing community, continues to be a Country Manager in Australia, as well as a Community Booster for South Korea. It has been an absolute pleasure working with him these many years, and while we know he's still going to be around, it has to be said that he is much loved and appreciated by the entire community. Thank you @BTStar (5) for everything you've done, it means a lot mate. :appreciative:
