UR's in Essex, Suffolk and East London.

Post by Ian
Hi All
I thought a general post would be the best way of relaying this message.  :D

As some of you may have noticed, I have, for the past 3 months or so, been very lax at keeping up with the UR's on my home ground. So the first part of this message it to thank those of you who have picked up some of these and dealt with them.

I have now got back onto these and so I am slowly working through the 500+ open ones in the area. In doing this, I am finding quite a number where they have been answered by an editor asking for more information, but then (as is often the case) there is no reply. These then seem to have been left. When I come across these I am annotating these with a "Time to close?". If you get one of these messages, please do not think I am being pushy or critical. I am grateful you have picked them up and I know, with the new issues tracker, just how easy it is to then lose them into the system.

Hopefully I will soon have the area back under control, however don't let that put anyone off working in the area. As with all AM areas, these are not personal possessions. Everyone who can edit in the area is more than welcome to join in.  :D

That's a relief, I'd always been put off editing across the Thames by a former over-protective editor.

You are more patient than I am. When I come across an old report with an old (*) request for more information and no response, I just send my standard "thank you" message (aimed at the original reporter) and close it 'not identified'. I do realise that I am in theory stealing points from the original responder, but I hope nobody gets too worked up about that. I think most editors are happy to have help clearing their old UR's, especially when they've obviously forgotten about them (or lost editing access to them).

Certainly if you find any that I've left lying around during one of my occasional 'sabbaticals' from Waze, you are welcome to take them over and dispose of them.

(*) 'old' being a somewhat flexible concept depending on my mood at the time, but normally around 3 months.

I nudge the editor with a Time to Close? at about 4 weeks.
I just close those over 2 months that look lost where the editor has either lost the editing area or just lost the UR.
I still nudge the ones from the Countrywide Editors as they have no excuse. It is fun to remind a senior editor that they have missed something.  :D
