love the waze concept.

here are a few things i would need to really fall in love with it.

waze "friends" -- add friends that i know and be able to see them on the map etc

facebook integration -- show my route of location as a facebook post on my wall
(and maybe search my facebook friends list to see who else is a waze user to make them my friend on waze as well)

clickable items on the screen -- when i see items on the screen like another wazer or an accident, i want to be able to click on it for more info . .

directions list! -- this is the most important one, i need to know the route that is planned for me before i start blindly following directions !

reroute -- maybe on the directions list i can click on of the line items and choose another road that would be faster just by clicking, dragging, etc

landscape mode -- no explanation needed

thanks guys keep up the great work!

I like the sound of the pause option in waze.

I was wondering if automatic road building would be feasible as it seems to me that it should be obvious to waze that there is a road there if you are driving down it.

Some icons for POIs would be good...

- pause button for stopping at gas stations or drive thru restaurants since doing these functions while WAZE is running will shade a road red indicating to other Wazers that the traffic is thick and congested (when it really isn't). The shading thing hasn't been working well in my area since a couple Waze versions ago on the iphone, so I think the stats for the area are a bit jacked-up, perhaps because I am an aggressive driver and am always swinging into gas stations and whatnot with WAZE continuing to run.

I may have missed this, but I'd like the option to report a disabled vehicle on the side of the road. I reported many of these as "accidents" on our trip to visit family for Christmas, but not all of my accident reports were in fact accidents, but those having car troubles. Is there a way to specify this since you can't type while the car is moving (even as the passenger as Waze has no way to no who's doing the typing)?

Waypoint Navigation

Most navi's support waypoint navigation, as in: you program a route from point A to B to C to D to E, etc.

What I would love to see is "Optimized" Waypoint Navigation.
What I mean by that is the possibility of a list of waypoints along which Waze would then plot the most efficient route.
Very handy for people who have to deliver packages, or when you have a list of stores to go to, but don't want to spend all day driving back and forth.

I want to be able to poke people I see driving nearby. This should provide the poker with points. And the pokee should receive a message advising them they have been poked.

Obviously this would be a client only feature. No good online. It would be like playing duck hunt with a mouse and a map.

Someone would have to pass within a reasonable distance of your vehicle for you to be able to poke them. Say a mile or so.

It would be fun, and perhaps enhance the local communitys.
Maybe calling it a poke is a bit aggressive. It could be a tickle.

Just a thought.

Voice commands (inputs). Example, I say: "navigate to X address" or "navigate to home" and Waze finds the route without having to type in the address or click to through to the favorites.

Spoken road names (output): Example, Waze says "turn left onto Main St. in 0.1 miles)" instead of "turn left in 0.1 miles"

They all pretty much say what the file name is, but you get the idea, unpack, go to the sounds folder and you can listen to them all re-record or use other files to substitute them and repack and install, or replace them in your phone which I haven't done that so not sure if that will work *** Just saying it should work ***

Third.mp3

Interesting, so there are some directions with sounds that are not yet enabled (exit, first-seventh). What do those mp3's sound like?

With or without "pausebutton" - the algorithms in Waze could be further improved.

For instance: when approaching a trafficjam, nobody stops in his tracks and stays put for 5 minutes, as you would do when delivering goods or filling at the gasstation. You drive, then drive slower, stop, forward some 20 more meters, stop for a minute, forward 10 more meters, stop for half minute, forward 20 more meters etc. This is a different pattern from driving into a gasstation - you leave the road, stop, stay put for 5 minutes and then you drive again. Even if the leaving of the road would not be noticed, the stopping pattern would be "suspicious" enough not to trigger a trafficjamevent.

Another one: if a car is stopped or in a jam, the speed should not influence the arithmetic average speed of the road - you are stopped, and not driving. This could prevent the average speed dropping to ridiculous 1-3kmh as it is seen now.

O - and while I am at it: another feature that could enrich Waze is to give warnings when approaching SCHOOLS, but only at times when that school generates traffic, say half an hour before school starts and half an hour after school is out. That would make the warning much more credible and effective. This could be done in a way similar to the Speedcams - give a warning on approach of a POI labelled "school", this POI would have timeranges set. (Mo-Fri - 8:00-8:40, 12:15-12:50, 15:00-15:40). I would not go as far as to setup schoolholidays, but that could be an option as well.
