US-XX, SR-XX, CR-XX

I'd like to ascertain if there's adequate interest in adopting the shortened nomenclatures for US, State, and County roads within Georgia. A number of states have already moved in this direction, and inherent is the knowledge that this will likely undo the shield graphics, something several states have thought acceptable in exchange for the shortened names which fit better in the client displays.

I confess that living closer to Alabama and Georgia than most of Florida, I'd already long ago started doing this. Now with more AMs around, it seems right to step back and try to build consensus. Inputs?

We all seem to be on the same page. I know there's a lot more Georgia editors, but I'll see what I can do to get this updated:

All Concerned,
We've let this thread sit for a few months (since May...it's now July) and there doesn't seem to be any additional input forth coming. I interpret the responses as a "Yay" to move ahead with the shortened styles and will push that up to the Southeast coordinator.

I'm sure there will be a tendency to edit from a "mile-high," but please zoom in a bit closer to better "see" what is really being edited. Sometimes it takes more precision than just, "Select entire street."

I agree with changing to the shortened names. It's become clear that the shields that have been lost aren't going to be regenerated no matter what we name the roads, so we may as well make the change. I'm all for brevity and consistency.

Banished, I'm not an AM yet but I would vote for the shortened names. There's lots of inconsistency in the areas I'm working on now already.
