Waze users in Victoria

Post by cooki3mons7er
Hi there,

I'm inquiring about the number of waze users in Victoria, Australia... I recently relaunched my waze after not using it for a couple months due to relocation and found that there are not many users in Victoria. (I migrated from Asia and waze on Asia is super accurate!)

Would love to have the maps updated so that I can rely on waze all the time!

What do I need to do to ensure the maps is updated?

Thanks!

jeedo, it may be partly because most of those are fairly major/long routes, and it's a pain editing those unless you've driven there or are CM.. ;)

But message me if you have an interesting project for me which is easily achievable by requesting an area or a few areas.. don't really have the option to drive to areas so I can edit them (which I did in the Netherlands after work) because work kind-of keeps me busy.. and the time I have I go out and act like a tourist :P Visit the Great Ocean Road, Philip Island, walk around Melbourne, go to a footy match.. probably will try to go to the Grampians next weekend :)

But if you have an interesting project based on the list, let me know and I'll see what I can do in the time I'm not being a tourist ;)

I drove there, but somehow it looks like I restarted Waze there because I thought it may have been bugged ;) There are some gaps in the editable areas there, but the road itself I can edit.. just also not sure since I didn't pave it, and there's no GPS points.

In this case though, I think it's better to simply estimate what the road will be based on the available areals and draw it, than leave it open. This way directions will be taken over the road, and users won't be confused (as I was). Can always be fixed later using GPS traces/URs or once better areals are available. What do you think of the addition I did just now?

I just miss that section in my drives as well because I turned it off, though :(

I've tried to coordinate efforts through a To Do wiki page on Victoria but for some reason it hasn't really taken hold.

I think it's because mediawiki is just a bit of a pain to edit and actually keep up to date. I'm not sure but happy to hear suggestions?

oooh, well I had one section of the Great Ocean Road at Glenaire that needs to be paved because the aerials aren't detailed enough for that section here (that's if you're driving that far ;) ) https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=1&l ... TTTTTTFTTT

I guess I tried the major routes first because that's what people would want to try first to drive somewhere. Then if they wanted to get to a specific location, then they might have a go at adding the roads to get to a place off the main routes...

Paving is the last thing you want to use. As there aren't gps points available, use your recent drives in WME. You can save the parts that arent's exist yet on the map as new segments. That works much better and cleaner than the stupid pave function. But yeah....paving brings more points ;)

hmm that feature doesn't to work at the moment....
