It is not true, you can have a speedcam database.

What is illegal is to warn or inform about the position of an equipment used to control infractions.
tellytart wrote:Please either disable the camera alerts when in France, or remove the cameras completely, as I don't wish to fall foul of the law. (In France, the penalty is a fine of up to €1,500, confiscation of the device and possibly even confiscation of the car)
We (French community) asked waze for a legal solution before the law was voted.

I think, What you seem forgotten is the main core of waze is GPS Nav and not speedcams alerts.

Waze is not iCoyote and iCoyote is not Waze

Speedcams is just an option in Waze

Waze say they are looking for a legal workaround. Just be patient, they're working on it.

Report police is not only for mobile speedcams.

With the police icon, you report policemen. They can control speed, or anything else. I dont think it could be forbiden in any country to say "hey there is a policemen here"

It is aloud to report policeman and show them on the map, but it is illegal to have device/application that can worn you in advance about police cameras. So, if Waze implement switcher "on/off" police sound notification it should be enough.
That is what is planed to do. But no ETa

Even If waze remove police icon, users will reports pot holes or véhicule stopped on shoulder.

On others providers, it is called live alerts. No matters what the icon is or How it is labelled. Result is the same.

The same as if you use Twitter to report police.

The actual waze's statement is to disable speedcams. Cf the shirli's post.

Which more official statement you need ?

When the actual statement Will change, Waze Will post a new announce.
