US: Rest Areas

Post by AlanOfTheBerg
I searched the forums via google and got only one hit, and nothing in the wiki either.

I am curious if it is standard that the exits for Rest Areas are shown in Waze? I have seen several on an Interstate near me which are simply a ramp exit/entrance and sometimes show a couple roadway paths through the rest area. But nothing else. Not a landmark, no mention of why this ramp goes off the highway and back on again.

It doesn't appear there is a standard for these, but if I am incorrect, please point me to the reference location so I can make sure these are set up right.

I think having rest areas is useful to have, especially if they are a searchable item within the client, but I don't think this is the case currently.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there is no Landmark type "Rest Area" or any other type which really comes close. (But odd things like "cul de sac" are included; can't imagine why I'd want to call out a cul de sac as a landmark...)

I think I'll email waze and ask if it can be added. It sure makes sense to me.

Waze says they will look in to adding this landmark type. No ETA.

These should be parking lot roads and not ramps/exits and if Waze can or has, should be a landmark as a rest area/stop, etc...
