UR requesting that we consider the naming of "Broadway" to match the road signs only saying MA-99, I think particularly at the junction with US-1 (permalink above).

What is the consensus on this? "Route 99" is referred to locally as "Broadway" for it's entirety no matter the city it's passing through, however the road is referred to as just "MA-99" on road signs. The idea of the UR is that locals understand MA-99 = Broadway, but outsiders may not. I don't think that the entire length of the road should change the primary name to MA-99, however what about the segment that connects to US-1 south (permalink above)? Should we add a small ramp segment between US-1 S and Broadway named "to MA-99 S / Malden / Everett"

thoughts?

I suggest not changing anything, especially highway/route naming. As far as I know the "State Highway xx" vs "MA-xx" is not sorted and none should be changed until we have a final answer.
In this case, we would want to change or add the segment of Broadway/MA-99 that joins to US-1 S because the signage on US-1 (see above screenshot) just says "MA-99 S / Malden Everett"

Roger, I could convert a small segment of broadway at the US-1 junction and make it a ramp segment...just worried about changing that large segment to ramp since there are addresses/businesses abutting it

done using the existing segment to preserve data:

I suggested referencing the wiki. I'm pretty sure the street name is supposed to match the street roadway signage, as in the street name. The secondary name should be the route number. This is exactly how it is now. Highway exit ramps should be named as per the exit signage.

I suggest not changing anything, especially highway/route naming. As far as I know the "State Highway xx" vs "MA-xx" is not sorted and none should be changed until we have a final answer.

Yes, that first segment probably should be changed to a ramp roadway and named "to State Hwy 99 S / Malden / Everett" to match the signage.
