John

I doubt it's the slaves as there is no monetary reward. I, like Des, have never made it to the top but I have been close and that was putting in 12+ hours a day for a few weeks. Unfortunately there isn't quite the same amount of blank space available to work on over here now, sorry.

I think the best way to go is to just refine and refine some more, increasing the quality of the maps for all of the end users and to take the satisfaction in knowing you've done the best that you can (I'm a Scout leader ;) )

As for your original question, haven't got a baldy how they do it! And don't think I want to know. What I'd like to know is, why people make so many obviously pointless edits when there are so many little things need done on bits of the maps that aren't even close to being half perfect.

N Ireland still has a lot of editing left to be done in some places, as it didn't benefit from the 'basemap' that was imported here in GB. All the roads need to be drawn or paved by hand, and there's much less available street name information online...

Try not to get too hung up on points though - they have no real worth.

I'm in the royalty list but only just holding on with a very weak hold. I drive 500 miles a week or more commuting, but what pushed me into the mark was doing 1200 in a single week. I also do about 50 edits/3 urs a week. So I think that's about the minimum.

Mondeo Driver, lurking somewhere on the M27 but no longer editing.
