Autosalón Slovakia 2014
To be able to explain success of our Slovak community I would like to start with little hindsight.
On a long-term basis our Country Coordinator Guri (guri211) is trying to find any possible way to help community to grow, get Waze public attention (in order to and have new Wazers stay on board).
With strong support from many community members we are organizing contests on our FB page and forum, Waze stickers giveaways, local Wazers' meetups and last year Guri even managed to establish long-term relationship with Zelena Vlna (country-wide radio stations' traffic service, managed by a state-owned Radio Slovakia station). Thanks to this cooperation, inside their booth, we were able to present Waze on national motor show Autosalón - popular event, this year with more than 185 thousands of visitors.

Same as the last year, we again took part on the event - from 8th till 13th April Guri, with several volunteers, presented Waze for 6 full days of the event. At it was not only the presentation. We prepared prizes and souvenirs (Waze-branded car holders, stickers, touch display stylus' and other hand-outs) for visitors, managed live broadcasts with several local radio stations (promoting Waze whenever adequate) and of course many discussions with visitors.

We were also trying to get attention with special offers, like "-100% off on Waze during the event"

Among Waze-related projects, presented on the booth and helping to pull the curious visitors, were Potholes.SK and Semaphores SK. The Potholes.SK project, which was already launched a year ago during a stronger winter, was a web page, which displayed a map of Slovakia, covered by Waze-reported "pothole" pins. As the winter had rather devastating influence on our road network, the map was literally hidden behind them - and the visitors did remember that from the past... The Semaphores SK project, which informs a waiting driver about the remaining time until a green traffic light appears, got also its share of attention - because it attempts to make Wazer's life in front of the traffic lights more deterministic.
Of course, the Waze show could not omit the young, soon coming generation of Wazers...
