How does this work? Friday, I drove 235 miles to Gatlinburg, TN. Monday I drove 37.8 miles to Knoxville, TN. And Wednesday I drove 273.8 miles to Winston Salem, NC. Thats 546.6 miles in 5 days. I have not received the 1000 bonus. Whats the deal? Can someone explain it to me? :x
I think the week is based on a work week, so Monday through Sunday.
Looks like your trips spanned two weeks if you listed the days in order.
By the way, did you notice any problems on your drives? I’m in Knoxville ![]()
Not any issues besides all the Stop light cameras and cops. Wow alot of cameras! I hoped it was in a seven day period, not sun-sat. Oh well. Thanks for the info…
I don’t know how this part works. I drive 65 miles one way to work. 130 miles a day, 650 miles a week just to and from work! I’ve been doing this for 3 years now. I’ve been using Waze for about 4 months now and have yet to get that bonus! I would like to have it too!
I didn’t notice if it was the case when I earned my 500 mile bonus last week, but for most/all of the other bonuses I’ve earned it’s a two-stage process…
1 - perform the task as described and get the yellow bonus banner
2 - find and drive over the bonus cookie that then appears on your map
If you only see the yellow banner but then end your journey before finding/eating the bonus cookie, then it appears you miss out on the bonus entirely.
I pretty sure that if drive past a bonus candy without picking it up and it falls off the map, it will just pop back on somewhere else ahead of you. I suspect if you end your journey prior to picking up the candy, it will show up on your next journey.
This is the case for all bonus candies!
This also requires that the point tallying process be working properly and that all point be collected within the Monday to Sunday week window.
If points are behind in processing, then most likely the bonus process doesn’t see them as eligible.
I have come the the realization that I will never get this. We made a trip yesterday that 276 miles each-way, I got credit for 100.04 of those miles, presumably because I didn’t have cell reception, however I did have map tiles for the vast majority of the trip.
I am in the market for a new truck, and wanted to not get the factory nav in favor of waze, but I see that is not a realistic option for me at this point until they fix how waze handles being incommunicado.
I did the almost the same trip… I drove to Gatlinburg, TN on Friday, then back home on Monday. So from Thurs-Mon, thats 874.75 miles that are showing up in my dashboard, BUT since they span a weekend, it looks like I’ll have to find a way to drive 150 miles somehow before Friday.
 FYI, I think this should be updated so that Waze does a “spanning” 7 days. If the last 5 routes in my dashboard are only 4 days and they are over 500 miles, then I should get the points… It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard of an algorithm to include…
Not saying that it should or shouldn’t be changed, but the current method does make sense given Waze’s official purpose – to help with daily commutes which are usually considered in terms of a work week which starts/ends sometime over the weekend (and even this varies around the world).
BTW, any issues getting to/around Gatlinburg? I’ve edited most of the ways in and out of there.
Another thought, since the Dashboard only shows my last 10 routes and Waze resets every Sunday, why doesn’t the app just keep a weekly odometer under the My Waze button that could reset every Sunday at 11:59pm for the users local timezone? That way we would be able to see how close we are to getting this cookie.
Yeah, I am having issues with this bonus as well. I drove 750+ miles last week (monday - friday) and have not even seen a bonus candy anywhere. Too bad, that big bonus would have pushed me over the top ![]()
Where do you see the miles driven in the last week? I don’t see it on my dashboard.
Could it be 500 distinct mIles - I.e. not backwards and forwards over the same section?
On the 800+ miles Thurs thru Monday, you may still get those miles and the candy. I hit that candy last Memorial Day weekend, the cut-off for me was actually the Monday night point total, not Sunday night. So if you finished your trip, or at least crossed the 500 mile mark on Monday you may still get it. It did take a few days to pop up, but I got it for a trip that crossed the 500 mile mark on a Monday. Also note if your trip was this last weekend, the points calculation is now two days overdue and has been intermittent this week. (Not that that the Waze status page says anything about it.)
This was annoying for me to get as well. As someone mentioned above, it is a Monday - Sunday week, not the last 7 days unfortunately.
There is something broken with tracking miles, in general. I’m new to waze but last week I drove all over L.A. and Southern California, then Drove From Newport beach to Salt Lake City, Utah (over 600 miles) and waze has my miles total this morning at 337 miles. I don’t know how often waze reports “home” when you are driving around, but my hypothesis is that it may not report home for hours. And heaven forbid you change from 3G to Edge and the app crashes as a result (must have happened 4 times to me driving through Nevada and Arizona). but it would seem those crashes took any miles I drove, with them. Multiple compounding bugs here.
There is currently a delay in processing drives & therefor miles & points.
Would someone update the status page?
On 4 October, it was noted it would be 3-4 days day and it is now 5 days later with no updates…
Thanks!
