A50 Holmes Chapel Road Speed Limits

I finally got speed limits to work in Waze, yay, but then noticed that the speed limits on my way to work are wrong, I think they changed to 50 a couple of years ago, street view, from 2009/2011 still shows as “National speed limit”.

Any chance someone can either unlock or change the following segments to 50mph:

I changed the 2 or 3 small sections that I already had access to, no idea why I had access to just those little bits!!

Waze has a system of “auto-locking” roads according to (perceived) usage. The idea is that the more important roads should be protected from accidental damage by novice editors. Which is good sometimes, but also a pain when the novice wants to do something useful.

The usage of this road appears to be around the L1/L2 auto-lock boundary. Seemly some segments get more traffic (with Waze running) than others. It’s not that Wazers really appear and disappear from one segment to the next, more that some people lose phone signal in some places, and so don’t get counted. As a level 1 editor, you could only update the L1-locked segments. Although as you’ve discovered, you can always post a request to this forum.

Anyway, I’ve updated the specified segments to 50. Which leaves a 50/60 boundary close to the Barclays offices. Is this correct, or should the boundary be somewhere else?

Ian, thanks for the explanation, that makes sense as my phone signal is pretty patch around here.

And to be honest I’m not sure where the 50/60 boundary is as I don’t go past Barclays going north towards Knutsford, as I turn in :slight_smile: and then head back south.
