I’ve read some threads on here about the ability to edit internal Waze app coding to create custom colours for the map but this requires either a jailbroken iPhone or an Android. Would be great to have a proper way to create and use map colour themes. Either as an settings option in the app or as a feature on the Waze website which you can then bring up on your phone to activate the map colours (kind of like a mini internal map theme store).
It does not require jail-breaking on an iPhone to add a custom map schema.
You just need a piece of software on your PC/Mac to access the file system (this does not allow you to install software only change files on existing installations).
I use DiskAid, free to try and not especially expensive if you find it useful.

I initially posted this thread because I saw the other threads mention DiskAid and I hooked my phone up to it but the Waze app wouldn’t show up. Then I tinkered with the advanced options and boom, Waze was there. I’ve now created a custom scheme for myself which i’ll share in another thread (https://world.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=27154). Thanks.
In Android you just need to look the files under \waze\skins

Using io6 on a iphone4s, it is not possible to modify the files.
Is there any way we can have user files that we can modify and allow Waze to read the new schema ?
Thanks.
You can still upload custom colour schemes under iOS6, you just need to put them in “Documents” folder instead of the “Waze.app” folder:
You will have to replicate the rest of the folder structure ie night would go into the following folder:
\Waze\Documents\skins\default\night
rather than:
\Waze\Waze.app\skins\default\night
Nice … is there a way to rename the customized scheme ? … or to add a new one to the list ?
At the moment I was able to select it by going through all the schemes available. and it popped out instead of the VitaminC … not sure why I picked it from folder …/day/2
I don’t think so, I tend to use map editors all the time myself and have a custom night scheme.
I’m sure the scheme names are in there somewhere, but I’ve not found it.
