OK, I’ve read the manuals, searched the forum…etc, and can’t seem to find much on the specific issue.
Is it possible to zoom out a LOT more on the WME screen? My editable area in Southern Ontario is fairly large due to the amount of territory I cover at work (and play) regularly, and I also have quite a few distant excursions in different directions that have opened up editable area that stretches far outside of my “core” area.
However, I’m finding that even at the minimum zoom level I’m still left scrolling all over the place in order to get an “overview” of any UR’s, problem reports, etc inside my editable areas. It seems that I just can’t zoom out enough. Perhaps I’m just missing something.
Checked, it’s not the issue unfortunately. I’ve also tried a few different browsers on my machine, and it’s the same across all. For anyone familiar with the eastern side of the Toronto geographic area, when the WME zoom slider is slid right to the absolute bottom (full minus) on my browser, centered on my house I can only see Whitby, Oshawa and part of the Clarington area (As well as some of Lake Ontario). That’s a relatively tiny geographic area in comparison to not only the province, but my editable area.
If this is the default minimum zoom I can’t possibly fathom how you higher level AM/CM’s manage as it would be like zooming across country looking at the equivalent of a pin-heads worth of an area at a time. I have to be missing something.
The zoom is limited to keep control of the amount of data needed to support the view. That helps with both the local browser and to control load on the servers.
Use livemap and the LMUR (Livemap UR Overview) script to manage a larger area. I use it for the whole of the UK.
