Should area places be added to the map? I figured yes, but someone recently deleted a hospital I added.
I think I understand the reason for holding back on point places, by my “newbie” understanding is that area places are area so that the appear on the waze map.
Here is the location of the now missing hospital. It is right in middle of this golf course:

Wow, in a demonstration of just how new I am, I was wrong about the hospital being deleted. I did not have my “PLaces” layer turned on. 
Anyway, the general question I think is still valid about whether or not it is appropriate to add places when the wiki-waze places page list them as “Area”.
It’s hard to argue about what should and should not be mapped now with the Places guidance for the USA recently added to the wiki. This also had significant forum discussion that went into it. I hear that the Champs actually held an initial vote on Area versus Point for all of the categories as well, which was then later tweaked as Places were rolled out.
In any case, you may at any point find your area Place or anything that you edit changed or deleted by someone–for any reason! If there’s ever a situation where this becomes a source of contention, just try to settle it via PM with other editors or on the forums.
