Add Kosovo as a country?

Hi,

I can’t seem to find Kosovo as a country when I log in on my Android app.

Is there any chance someone can add it?

There was not yet a subforum for Kosovo, but I’ve added it. So you can start using it, and try to get other local users to visit it…

At this moment, speaking of the Waze Maps, and all the political $h1t, Kosovo is still autonomous province of Serbia. Might be split in the near future :wink:

Hi!

For correctness and your information I would like to emphasize some arguments:

  1. Since 1999, Kosovo has been administered by the UN (not from Serbia). More accurate information concerning the UN mission in Kosovo you will find here http://goo.gl/iE9mVW

  2. Since 17 FEB 2008 Kosovo is an independent country recognized by 108 countries of the world. See http://goo.gl/bRdiWr

  3. Even from Google, part of which is Waze as well, Kosovo has the same treatment as other countries (such as Serbia), ie not as a province of Serbia (Info -> http://goo.gl/q5ijMN).

Waze, in a near future must treat Kosovo separate from Serbia.

Please, refrain from involving politics into Waze. I’d recommend to you to stick to the Waze things before things get out of the control. Thank you!

I agree with you that Waze is not the right place for politics, but neither my comment has nothing to do with politics. It was simply a clarification on a comment.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply, I didn’t use Waze for a long time.

Basically it’s not about political $hit as you’re describing it, but it’s about practicality! People will search Pristina, Kosovo and nothing will come up on their search. Not everyone knows what is going on here, and we need to clear things up about stuff. It’s not just search options, it’s a lot of other issues, like addresses. If someone sends something to an address in Kosovo and they write it only Serbia the thing will be returned due to “un-administered territory”.

I mean there are a lot of issues that come up due to this name dispute. It’s just so people will have it easier to navigate and since you don’t want to involve politics it’s even easier for you to accept it that Waze should add it as a country!

Hi guys,

Thank you all for you help!
Adding new countries to the list of existing countries and states to Waze, is a process that take time.
I know it is not optimal, but we’re doing our best to improve our maps, search mechanism and navigation.

Once we will be ready to add all states, counties and countries, I will keep you posted.

futjen e Republikës së Kosovës si Shtet, nuk mund ta bëjë dragstor pasi që në forum ka një rol moderatori ose në Waze të një koordinatori për Serbi (me sa e kam kuptu). Yep, e di, por pasiqe eshte moderatore fjala e tij vlen me shume te administratoret sesa fjala e jone, keshtu qe duhet me ia argumentu me fakte praktike pse duhet me e nda :slight_smile:

Flm per info, mas sa vjeteve jom kyq prape edhe derisa t’informona komplet e mandej besoj qe edhe kontriboj ne plot aspekte…

About translating Waze app, Livemap and Map Editor to Shqip - unfortunately, it is not supported in the Transifex (translation platform we use), but Albanian and Albanian Gheg (I guess that you understand it? see screenshot below) are already requested and pending approval, so be patient :slight_smile: I will inform you once they are added to the Waze project, so you can start translating :slight_smile:

First of all, please open accounts at Transifex ( https://www.transifex.com ), and join the team Waze ( https://www.transifex.com/waze ).

Translations are divided by projects:

  • Waze App (the Android and iOS apps)
  • Waze Map Editor - WME (map editor) and finally,
  • Waze Web (website and Livemap)

As I said, once the Albanian language is approved for translation, I’ll inform you :slight_smile:

It has been almost 6 years since we made the request to list the Republic of Kosovo as a state in the Waze, but such a thing has not happened yet.

Can anyone tell us why this change has not been implemented yet, or maybe we should address this issue elsewhere?
