Address entrance location

I have tried searching for a solution to this issue but cannot seem to find one. I have also tried unsuccessfully to attach an image of the map editor (I am told there is an HTTP error when I do try).

I work at 709 New Texas Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15239. There is an entrance road that spurs off of New Texas Road to get into the gated facility at the address. Waze correctly places the red “pin” on the building’s physical location in Waze Map Editor, but fails to direct me to the entrance road and instead instructs me that I’ve arrived when I’m at the top sign at the intersection of Lindsey Ln. and New Texas Rd.

I assume this issue arises because the address is on New Texas Road and not on the unnamed “parking lot road”, so the intersection of Lindsey Ln. and New Texas Rd. is actually the closest point on New Texas Road to the red pin, even though the “parking lot road” would take one closer to the red pin.

I’m not sure where to start with this. Can I use the map editor to somehow associate the “driveway” / “parking lot road” with 709 New Texas Road? Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Normally we always recommend searching for any business by name rather than address, but I don’t see a good name for that location, I see a few different names.
So in this case, an address search would make sense. The 709 address pin was attached at that intersection that you noted. I have corrected that and moved it onto the driveway to the location. You will need to remove that address from your search history or your app will keep using that stored location. Then search again and you should get the updated location. Let us know if it works now.

Thank you so much for helping! Sadly I’m still having trouble making it work. I should note that I had 709 New Texas Road set as my “Work” location. I tried to follow your directive to remove the 709 address from my search history: after removing the 709 address as my “work” address, I clicked into the “search” field and used the 3 dots next to the 709 address and clicked “remove” (trashcan). However, it is still all over my navigation history - do I need to delete all of my navigation history? I also tried deleting the (Android) app’s cached data. I also want to point out that there’s a reason the address doesn’t have a clear business name attached to it - the scientific facility at this address is owned by the University of Pittsburgh, and there is no need for the general public to navigate here. One final question: you mentioned that “The 709 address pin was attached at that intersection that you noted. I have corrected that and moved it onto the driveway to the location.” Is that something I should have been able to do myself in the Waze Map Editor or was it appropriate that I submitted this issue here in the forum? I am grateful for the assistance but I don’t want to take anybody else’s time up without good reason. Thanks again!

Yes, you need to delete ALL references to that address, from Work, Home, Recent, Saved, everywhere it might be because your app stores it and if it finds one stored, it will use that instead of getting any updates. Once you delete them all, it will reach out and grab it from the server.

As far as updating it yourself, you certainly can if you’d like to give editing a try, but it isn’t always as simple as it seems, so we are more than happy to help out with single edits like this. What I added was a Residential Place Point for that address on the road leading in and removed the house number from New Texas Road, that was leading you to that intersection. It might take a few days for the house number to disappear, but the other change -should- be active immediately, If not, you can give it a couple of days and then try all this again. Once it starts working, you won’t have to go through this again.
