I have been working on this UR where-in the user advised that when attempting to navigate to 3375 Gore Rd Dorchester ON, Waze navigates him/her to the wrong place.
The issue is that in Google, this address point is too close to the next road south of Gore Rd, so when attempting to navigate to that address, it navigates to there.
I’ve tried a number of things, and now when you enter the address in the app and press enter on your keyboard, it goes to the correct place from the entry in the results for that address. However if you don’t press enter and select the address from the suggestions, then you are navigated to the wrong place on Google.
I cannot find a way to correct the address location on Google, however I have moved the place location both on Google Maps to the correct place for this address, as well as added it to Waze. However the address is still navigating to the wrong place with the suggested results when searching this location on the Livemap or the app. Any ideas?
First off, moving anything in Google (by using the “suggest an edit” link) has to get manually approved right now. So it may not have actually updated yet.
Next, in Waze what is the icon next to the auto-complete suggestion when you type in the destination?
The location marker approve request on Google has been approved, however I can’t find a way to request for the address location to be moved, ever since they disabled editing of the Google Map for regular Google users.
I am seeing it like any other results. Here’s a screen cap:
Search for the address in Google - get to the map showing the pin. In the lower right hand corner in VERY small print find “Report a problem” and click on it. Then you can drag their marker to the correct location (and it will then be reviewed).
I suggest NOT using the auto-complete suggestions at all (as they are usually the cause of strange results). I usually recommend to users that they will need to do a NEW search as your Favorite & Recent Places only store the GPS coordinates from the initial lookup and do not perform a new search when selected. Also, do not accept the auto-complete suggestions, fully type in the address and hit the search button. Please ensure your results come from the Waze Places tab as well.
Ah, got it. It was looking for it within the results, as it shows up there for place listings on Google Maps. I have submitted the update request for that address now.
