This junction is where the southern approach to the Blackwall Tunnel crosses the Woolwich Road in London.
The junction below the roundabout should be a roundabout. Note the interesting mix of road types. The NW corner of what should be the roundabout is also strangely connected up.
A UR has popped up there today saying “Can’t turn right”. Since the driver actually followed the given route (allowing for a not-very-good GPS lock), I suspect they were confused by being told to turn right instead of getting instructions appropriate for a roundabout.
I would appreciate it if any of the senior editors would like to give me an opinion as to whether or not I should rebuild this junction. If so, I presume that the best way to do it is to drag the A102 off to one side, rebuild what’s underneath, then drag it back again?
I will say that, whilst this is the first UR I’ve seen for this junction, I can’t imagine it navigates very well on the client.
Looks like a roundabout to me from GSV but I don’t know it. You’re right in the technique to be applied. I’ll draw the other country managers to this post.
It looks like roundabout to me but I’ve used other 2 navigators say it is NOT :ugeek:
I’m not quite sure yet but will do more research.
just used one more navigation program and it also says it is not a roundabout.
If it helps, all the signs are for roundabouts:

Perhaps they don’t call it a roundabout because they couldn’t work out how to make it one? That worries me - it doesn’t look that difficult to me, but I’m the one more likely to be wrong!
Thanks for your input so far - keep it coming.
I’m going to put a vote in for not-a-roundabout because a) there are no roundabout signs* on any of the approaches, and b) it’s controlled by traffic lights so you don’t have to give way to traffic coming from the right.
Those aren’t exclusively roundabout signs, just signs for a junction. See above.
Quite right, Tim!
I’ve just been looking at other roundabouts in the general area. None of them have the sign on all of the approaches  but they all have at least 2 out of 4.
Given the above input, I am now siding with “not a roundabout”.
There’s still a UR there: coming along the Woolwich Road from the East and then going north towards the Blackwall Tunnel. It looks like Waze routed the driver correctly and they followed that routing but posted the UR “can’t turn right”. I assumed that was because they thought Waze wanted them to turn right before going under the A102.
It’s a very busy area, so if the instructions were confusing people, I guess I would have seen more URs up to now. So I’m also tempted not to mess with this junction at all - even with the collection of unexpected road types.
In case anyone else wants to chip in, I’ll leave it until tomorrow night - then I guess I’ll mark that UR as “not identified”.
My 2p.
This ramp should be minor highway, as it’s the valid route to get from the A206 westbound round onto the A102 Peartree Way.
On approaching the junction, the driver is presented with the classic roundabout island “turn left” signs. Just because there are traffic lights guarding entry to the junction doesn’t make it not a roundabout. I’m sure we all can quote examples of roundabouts where priority is over-rided by lights, but they’re still roundabouts, and traffic light failure would result in a reversion to roundabout etiquette for most drivers because there are so many clues suggesting it’s really a roundabout.
Does that make sense? It’s late and been a long day! Vote for roundabout
