Hello, Korean wazers. Are there any of you how are active? I have been editing in South Korea for a few months now and I hope I can reach out to you to help out in editing.
It’s a bit slow but we’re getting there. ![]()
I use Waze very often in U.S. and I visit Korea a few times a year. I use Waze and edit the map in Korea ,but my driven miles in Korea used to be not registered for the first a few days. If Waze can register my driven miles and edits without the delay, I could contribute more.
And I hope Waze can use satellite picture of better quality in Korea, it would be able to attract more users. The current position disparity between GPS trace and satellite image is uncomfortable.
Anyhow, I use it every day during my stay in Korea.
True that, I’m looking for possible resolutions right now. I’ll communicate with the Community managers.
The Daum satellite imagery is much more useful so it seems too. It’d be awesome to use Daum for satellite.
It actually is much better.
There are two major map satellite image providers for Korea, following are the ones:
- Daum (map.daum.net)
- Naver (map.naver.com)
- Google (map.google.com)
Google’s road names are pretty accurate as well as its English road names but one of the problem was that it google street view does not provide accurate information (One of the issue were that road signs are usually blurred out due to restrictions)
Naver is fast and provides pretty accurate road information but street views are usually outdated and does not provide timely updates.
Daum, one of the best I believe in terms of quick response and their accuracy. But I’ve ran across some roads displaying wrong directional arrows. Might want to check the actual street views just to make sure when working on one-way roads.
Thank you as always for your contributions provided!
