Every county seems to have that one stretch of road that causes accidents and claims lives every year. It seems it would be a good idea if locals could mark them out to warn travelers or just the unwary that they need to pay attention here.
We’ve a stretch of high way that in rush hours is head in to the setting sun, over a bridge on a hill with a S curve, leading to off/on ramps. A nightmare that has accidents on nearly a daily basis.
Seems WAZE should be able to detect these now that I think of it, using some formula of X # crashes in Y amount of days marks the stretch as hazardous.

I don’t know that Waze tracks accidents, or that it would necessarily help in this situation.
Waze’s traffic jam report should pretty much take care of this… if the backup/slow downs are reported when they start, and every Wazer coming over the hill makes theirs, then those coming up the hill should get plenty of notice.
This would be an example of Wazers taking care of Wazers. Waze can’t do anything for the other traffic out there that doesn’t use the app, we can only help each other and hope more of the unWaze’d masses will join us.
Waze does track average speeds… so, enough accident backups might eventually slow the average speed down to where Waze will route around the area.
As for fixing the problem, I would try contacting the jurisdiction (state/county/city) where the majority of the accidents are occurring. Questions would include; how many accidents/injuries/deaths on YOUR road? What is the plan to FIX it? WHEN? It’s amazing what can be accomplished by simply finding the person actually responsible, and asking questions they don’t really want to hear. Sometimes, they don’t even know there is a problem until somebody asks.
