You add them the same way as for regular cameras, i.e. by reporting them in the client, while at the exact location.
See UK Wiki for guidelines regarding speed cameras.

Hi
Thanks for that.
I did try at the location but I did not find the ‘average speed cameras’ options.
I will check wiki guidelines
ps. I did check and see no instructions?

Hi, I have now spent nearly an hour and I now give up, I found this but no instructions on how to add, unless I am now waze blind lol
https://www.waze.com/wiki/Speed_and_Traffic_Light_Enforcement_Cameras_(United_Kingdom)#Reporting_a_Camera_in_the_Client
here is the start/end of the system

anyone please got a link to how I can do it? and no doubt only a level 5 or 6 can do it anyways?
thanks
Hi,
As started, you report a SPECS camera in the same way as any other speed cam.
Waze does not have the ability to differentiate between types of speed cams.
So for SPECS you are 1) unable to id the camera as SPECS and 2) you are unable to link 2 or more cameras into a SPECS covered zone or area.
Just report the camera as a speed camera and set the speed of the camera in the editor to the speed limit of that road.

As Tim said, you can only create cameras when you’re at the camera location using the Waze App. What isn’t made clear in the Wiki is that the app has no camera type for average speed cameras, so they should be reported as normal speed cameras. Proper handling of average speed camera zones has been requested before but Waze HQ haven’t even said it’s coming “soon” yet. ![]()
Once the cameras have been reported and they have appeared in the editor, they must have their speed set and be approved. Any editor can do this - the camera is then automatically locked at the rank of the last editor.
It also sounds like you’re looking for a way to add cameras directly in the editor. Again, this is something that has been asked for before but it is not currently possible.
Thanks guys,
So I will report every camera, both sides and then get back in touch.
It will only take me about hour and half
question?
If someone joins the road in the middle (or stops at a shop) or only goes through 2 cameras and then turns off joining street, are people checked between each camera? and over the full road?
thanks for the help
There is guidance here.
Though I think it probably needs reinforcing in the section for reporting a camera. I need to update this anyway as the client icons have changed in v3.7.7.
We’ve been asking for Average Speed Camera support for several years, it is on the roadmap but apparently not anytime “soon”. ![]()
I have now updated the Speed cams wiki with additional text to clarify how to report SPECS and also with new images for the v3.7.7 client.
If you spot anything else that needs tweaking let me know.
Thanks for the update
I have now added the cameras and could you please do a “PhilNaughton(5)” and update them with your level so they cannot be changed by a level1?
Also I got no warnings from this red light camera here, are we back to them not verbally warning?
question?
If someone joins the road in the middle (or stops at a shop) or only goes through 2 cameras and then turns off an adjoining street, are people checked between each camera? and/or over the full road?
thanks, I appreciate your help
Kev
I’ve nudged the SPECS cameras so they are now L6 locked.
The RLC should work but the angle was a little off so I adjusted that as well.
As for SPECS, it monitors your average speed between each pair of cameras so:
Don’t take my response as legal advice, the best bet is not to speed at all ![]()
And always remember that average speed cameras are only the enforcement mechanism, the speed limit displayed is still the legal maximum.
So you mean we can’t do 100mph for a stretch then stop for a few seconds just before the next camera so the average speed is within the speed limit?
You’d be surprised by how many people think you can!
What you can do that, you just have to literally stop, then wait the appropriate amount of time.
i find stopping in the middle of a managed motorway a very sensible idea.
Hi,
The above is assuming, of course, that you actually know which two cameras are paired together!! They are not necessarily the first & second ones you meet…

So why do some people think it just measures your speed as you go past the cameras (while going over the speed limit between them) to get the average…? Then they complain about speeding tickets…
Because some people are stupid!
