Hello,
I would like to submit a product bug.
This morning, after dropping of my son at school, I turned on Waze to go to work. It took me the route with a toll even though the “avoid toll roads” setting is on.
Thank you.
Hello,
I would like to submit a product bug.
This morning, after dropping of my son at school, I turned on Waze to go to work. It took me the route with a toll even though the “avoid toll roads” setting is on.
Thank you.
Is it possible that the place you were routing to was only accessible by using a toll?
If no non-toll route is available, Waze will route via toll segments. This is shown on the route screen, although we have several times asked Waze to have something more visible than white text on a light-grey box.
That is impossible as there are at least 4 ways to get to work.
They all take me around the same time to get to work: 40 minutes.
But the one with the toll is 30 miles, where as the other routes are 20 miles, 20 miles, 15 miles (all local).
Did it again today.
Product bug.
If you don’t mind sharing start & end points for your journey, I might be able to have a look at this. Given that your journey is in the tens of miles, precise start & end points aren’t necessary, as I’m sure you wouldn’t want to publish those exact points.
Please also state what country you’re in. I’m just a volunteer editor, based in the UK, so I may have to suggest you ask in your country’s local forum if I can’t diagnose the issue.
If you post which City/Country (or City/State in the US) you are trying to navigate in, we can point you to some local help (including a senior, trusted, editor who can you privately share your origin & destination with). In this case we probably won’t need the exact origin & destination, but we will need it down to near by intersection (i.e. “starting off headed south on Main St just north of the intersection of Main & Elm”).
My start point is Norwood, NJ and my end point is Franklin Lakes, NJ.
Where is my country’s local forum? I thought I was on it?
I see what you mean by local forum. If you can’t resolve this issue, can we move this thread there? Or would I have to recreate it?
Moving to the NJ Forum.
Can you let me know the URL once this has been done?
Thanks for moving to the NJ Forum. I’ll have a closer lock later tonight once I get home from work. Another local editor or NJ State Manager may also be involved as I reached out to our editing community to look.
Can you tell me which toll road it suggested? Can you recreate the route, and tell us the list of roads/maneuvers Waze supplied?
Also, did you use the default route, or did you ask Waze to list alternate routes, and pick a specific one?
Update: The routes are different based on time of day, At 8:00 AM, the route includes a section of the NYS Thruway that is untolled for cars, but has tolls for trucks. This may be confusing to many drivers, who may think they are on an EZ-Pass express lane that charges them, when it really doesn’t. It only charges trucks.

Yes, that is mostly my route. After exiting exit 59, the remaining directions are incorrect. We have a dedicated private exit to our company on route 208 north and sourth bound.
I did not know that the toll that I drive through does not charge cars during commuting hours. I checked my EZ Pass account and I don’t see a transaction for taking that route on Monday or Tuesday.
Waze may not use a private highway entrance/exit unless it is set up on the map properly and is equivalent to other routes. You may want to work with an experienced editor to make sure it is set up correctly.
It has been set up properly. Waze tells me to get off the private entrance.
