Hi,
All week Waze has been giving me very strange routes to my daily commute adding many miles and adding an hour or two to the trip. Each day I have ignored the route and it eventually (after 20 miles) changes to my usual route and adjusts the time back to my usual arrival time.
I’m in NY, and take the Belt to the Verrazano Bridge then the SIE to the Goethals and exit the first exit in NJ.
This week it wants me to take 495, one time the Brooklyn bridge and today the Triboro bridge! Waze stuck to these routes right until I exited onto the Verrazano, and then it recalculated and removed 1 1/2 hours from the ETA. There were no major traffic incidents reported on the radio for my usual route.
Is there something going on?
Thanks
It sounds like something might be wrong with the map.
I’ve moved your thread from the general forum to the US one, you will have more luck to get answers from editors who can help this way.
Thanks for passing this here Vince.
Hi mmcnally,
Can you check your settings to make sure you don’t have avoid tolls/avoid freeways selected? I did a map of a route at 6:30 AM from Ave X in Brooklyn, near Coney Island, to Elizabeth NJ, and got these routes. As you can see, some really off-the-mark routes are selected, and could be attributed to Avoid Fwy/Avoid Tolls. I did examine your usual route on the map, and did not note any map errors, such as a restricted turn where there should not be.
I do recall yesterday, that there was a major accident on the bridge that completely froze traffic. MTA Buses were also delayed significantly, so that may attribute to anything strange on Wednesday.
Funk. I just checked and “avoid tolls” was somehow selected.
Thanks,
