Camp Roberts - AP or City?

Camp Roberts is currently mapped both as a very large Area Place and as a Waze City. Which should it be?

Personally I would favor the AP. First, an AP is arguably more useful as an orientation cue for drivers passing by on US-101. Second, whenever I’ve passed by, I’ve seen little activity there that suggests a material “population” of Camp Roberts. Third, when the USPS is asked about the Zip Code for Camp Roberts, it gives this response:

93451 (CAMP ROBERTS, CA is NOT ACCEPTABLE - USE SAN MIGUEL)

Just putting it out there, certainly there’s little urgency for something like this. Parts of Camp Roberts are outside my editing area so I am not well positioned to look after this myself.

Mailing address isn’t an issue. Camp Pendleton uses city, and addresses are all Oceanside. So we just add Oceanside as the alt city to get routing to work either way (mainly for base housing).

Having driven on Camp Roberts, I know just how big it is and how little activity is actually seen from US-101. With the exception of near the main entrance in Oceanside, most of Camp Pendleton looks deserted unless Marines are doing something that day.

Sure, it’s not something I feel strongly about, and I know that there are criteria for certain bases to be cities and others to be APs. If those criteria say Camp Roberts should be a city, great. But we do want to use one or the other, right? Not both?

[EDIT: I see that Camp Pendleton is mapped as four cities: Camp Pendleton, Camp Pendleton North, Camp Pendleton South, and Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station (I assume the latter is part of Camp Pendleton…?). What criteria are used to decide when a military base should be subdivided into multiple cities?]

No idea on when it should be subdivided. That predates my participation, but seems to be based on physical isolation to some extent.

I’m pretty sure Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station is technically a different base but is within the greater Camp Pendleton physical boundary.
