"Can't edit outside of driving area" in driving area

Hi all,

Although I’m relatively green on editing, I have done some minor edits in the past. (Have done tons on Google Mapmaker though.)

I need to correct a road segment and a speed camera to the correct speed. I’ve passed it many times and last night’s drive (I passed by again) also shows up when I log on to the editor. However, the editor keeps on graying out the options and saying: “You cannot edit this segment. You may only edit segments in your driving area.”

What’s going on here?

Cheers,
Yogi

I’ve moved this to the Canada forum where you’ll get help from local editors. Since you didn’t provide a permalink to the location I would just guess that the segment you are trying to edit is probably locked above lvl1, which means you cannot edit it without the right level or asking for an unlock first.

Hi Yogi,

Can you please provide some more details about where you are trying to edit? Please note as you are coming from a GMM world, our editing rules are different. Please familiarize yourself with the editing guidelines.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay, apparently I didn’t have email notifications turned on.

Here’s the permalink: https://www.waze.com/livemap?zoom=17&lat=45.49461&lon=-73.59546

Chemin McDougal actually has a legal speed LIMIT of 50kmph, although the “advized” speed in the sharp corner is 30kmph. So, incorrectly the speed limit is set to 35, and that of the speed camera to 30 kmph.

This causes everybody to hit the brakes fearing for a ticket for no reason. The camera is set to 50kmph. I’ve passed many times without getting a ticket and I have a colleague that got a ticket during the trial phase (so not penalty) letting him know it will be set to 50kmph.

If someone can correct it for me: that will work too.

Thanks,
Yogi

This is being looked into for verification due to the construction in the area.

Any material that I could supply?
Want me to film the ride tomorrow night and post it here?

To be perfectly honest, yes that would help…

Hi,

I’ve finally had confirmation that the speeds through here alter due to the construction and they are all normally 50, as is the camera which is in the process of being changed.
