CarPlay freezes when tapping driving notifications outside Waze

I’ve been experiencing a persistent issue in CarPlay for many beta versions. Whenever I’m outside Waze (in any other app) and a driving notification appears, tapping the notification to return to Waze causes CarPlay to freeze completely. The system becomes unresponsive immediately after tapping the alert.

I’m currently using Waze 5.13.0.2 on iOS 16.1 (iPhone 13 Pro Max), but this has been happening for many versions.

The problem occurs consistently:

  1. Open any app outside Waze on CarPlay.
  2. Receive a driving notification from Waze.
  3. Tap the notification.
  4. CarPlay freezes.
