Cartouche - Clearer colours for turn restrictions

Dear Waze,

I happen to suffer from the condition of being colourblind, and your current choice of colours for turn restrictions in Cartouche is making it nearly impossible for me to set them right. The shades of green and red you have chosen for the “arrows” clashes making it virtually impossible for me to see the difference :/.

Any chance you will take this into consideration and at least try to ligthen the shades so that the difference is more apparent. Ie lighter green / More “bright” red or something like that.

Because if not then I will inadvertantly end up setting wrong turn restrictions when I edit the map in Cartouche, unless you provide an option for me to replace the arrow colours myself?

This was raised and acknowledged at the recent Paris meetup and a solution will be introduced in a future Papyrus version.

My guess is that different shapes will be used, eg => and =x

In fact they could add a third option here, say ==, to denote an unset turn restriction!?

I like that last bit. Would make it a lot lot easier to see if something is amiss. Perhaps even make it possible to just get a list of unset turn restrictions in say a 2km/2m area and then allow people to click thorugh them and fix them, rather then having to click each and every one to check symbols.

If you are in suburbia and setting all turns at junctions of 2-way roads, set allowed turns on the junctions instead of the segments. See the keyboard shortcuts section of the manual (link in my sig) for those, too.

This is possible, actually … even for the color-challenged. Zoom in close enough in Papyrus (the 100ft/500m view or closer), and hit SHIFT-A. This shows all restricted turns on the screen, while hiding all no allowed turns; thus, all of the arrows that appear are red (no need to pick out the red from the green that way). Then, as Alan mentioned, click on the junctions behind the arrows and use the other keyboard shortcut (hint: it’s “W” … sorry, Mr. OfTheBerg ;)) to allow all the turns at that junction.

NOTE: you may not see any instantaneous change when you do that, but if you hit SHIFT-A twice again (or zoom in a level and then back out), the junction that you changed should no longer have any arrows at it. Also, note that if you’re working with one-way streets, there’s a known problem about using the “allow all turns” setting … look around in the Editing forum for info about that (does that atone for my previous giveaway, sir?) – but with two-way streets meeting two-way streets, you shouldn’t have a problem with doing it as I outlined above.

S makes the arrows update also.

This isn’t really the same, shift-A shows turns that are unset AND those that are restricted!

You’re forgiven. :sunglasses:

Keep in mind, MeX_DK, that at a 4-way junction with all turns restricted in all directions still only shows four arrows. And you can unrestrict them all at once. When a red arrow shows up in Shift+A mode, you cannot tell which segment it is which has the restricted turn. You only see the arrow. At a four-way intersection, that red arrow could represent 1, 2, or 3 restricted turns from the 3 other segments. If even one of those turns should be restricted, you need to edit the allowed turns for that segment and turn. The single tap of “w” will unrestrict all 12 turns at once using that method. Use it wisely.
