Change of Road Names in Sri Lanka

I guess steps should be taken to update the names of the cities and roads (mainly higher level roads) of Sri Lanka according to the following plan. Any input will be highly appreciated from the community.

Street names:
Most higher level roads are known by there City-City Rd names. Although highway numbers are important and often known from A roads, they are not used to refer to them. Another reason for using City-City names is that it will people help define where they are. So Proposal is to use City-City Rd as general guideline unless there is a segment of a road where a specific name has been given (eg. part of the A4 road is named “highlevel road”.
Some more detail:
A route can be know by it’s city names from beginning to end (CityA-CityZ), but also by in-between cities. Often, the road close to one city is named after the city of destination.
E.g., there is Negombo Rd next to Kurunegala, which is the part of Negombo-Kurunegala Rd. Next to Negombo, it will probably be refered to as Kurunegala Rd. In these cases, Negombo-Kurunegala Rd functions as the continuous naming in primary, or, close to the cities, added as alternative name. Road numbers are also added in alt and can be used for naming continuity as well.
For naming continuity, the road number in alt should always be without city name.
For CityA-CityB...CityY-CityZ Rd we use
>in primary name: CityA-CityZ Rd unless there is another local name
>in alternative name: CityA-CityB...CityY-CityZ Rd
for roads having road numbers like AX CityA-CityB...CityY-CityZ Rd we use
>in primary name: CityA-CityZ Rd unless there is another local name
>in alternative name: CityA-CityB...CityY-CityZ Rd
>in alternative name: AX

City naming:
As city boundaries and regions are not very obvious (e.g., governmental use is different from local use etc.) and destinations are often referred to by the use of common known POI, we might consider not use city names outside the few well known cities. And then, only in the boundaries of the urban area. POI destinations will be taken from Google, if navigation towards it is not correct, we can add them to the Waze database

Interesting proposal. I suggest to use both the official name as found in official maps, as well as what people usually use to refer to those highways. One could be what is displayed in the app, the other could be defined as alternate name so it can be found in the search.
But I don’t live in Sri Lanka, I just edit a bit when I have the chance… so whatever the community decides!
