How can you tell the difference between a general chit chat message and when someone pings you? I saw a chit chat near me and it looked like someone was asking me a question directly, so i was confused if there was something I was missing.
A ping is also a chit chat. If you are pinged you will get an audible an pop up message in your Waze application. Pings are not private. Anyone can see them and their responses.
Hmmm. I tend to drive with my sound down unless I am using waze for directions. So no other way to know a message is directed at you unless they reference your user name eh?
It will pop up on your screen with a box that is titled ‘ping’. This will appear even when you are moving.
Chit-chat’s are displayed along with hazards, and other reports when your vehicle is stopped or nearly stopped. Although of course since pings are public it will then also show on the map with a PIN as a chit chat in addition to display with the other reports when stopped.
They really are the same but a chit chat isnt directed to a specific person and no one is actively notified.
