CityLink tunnels and West Gate Bridge closures

CityLink will be closing the Burnley and Domain tunnels for resurfacing works during late December / early January. At the same time, VicRoads will also be resurfacing sections of the West Gate Bridge.

These are essential works that must be undertaken to ensure the ongoing safety and efficient operation of these important roads.

CityLink tunnel closures
· The Domain tunnel will be closed 24 hours a day from 10pm on Friday 27 December 2013 through to 5am on Tuesday 31 December 2013.

· The Burnley tunnel will be closed 24 hours a day from 10pm on Thursday 2 January 2014 through to 5am on Tuesday 7 January 2014.

West Gate Bridge
· The Westgate Bridge inbound will be closed overnight from 11pm – 7am on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 December 2013.

· The Westgate Bridge outbound will be closed overnight from 11pm – 7am on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January 2014.

Note: the West Gate Bridge works are dependent on the weather, and will be rescheduled to the next available night in the event of rain.

Signed detour routes will be in place (see attached maps), but we do expect long delays which could exceed one hour. We recommend using an alternate route where possible. When planning alternate routes, please take into consideration OD requirements, load limits and height restrictions.

I have also attached some general information about the closures – also available at http://www.citylink.com.au/resurfacing-closures.asp

Thanks for posting this info to help inform others. A few days ago I placed time based restrictions on the bridge and tunnel entrances for these dates and times so Wazers won’t get routed onto these sections of road when they are closed. The tunnels are the major closures as these are 2 very vital tunnels which are being completely resurfaced for the first time since they opened 14 years ago.

Your more than welcome.

I’m usually only interested in the QLD & Northern NSW region with my company, but somehow I seem to get e-mails for road notifications from NSW & Victoria as well.
I felt they were going to a better place in here rather than in my trash can.
