Clearing Map Problems

Hi All,

I’m new to map editing, and wanted to check-in with regard to standards on clearing map problems. I’m an avid Wazer and wanted to give back to the community by map editing.

My particular question is in regards to User Reported submissions with a general lack of data (as shown in the example here: https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-74.56467&lat=40.62613&zoom=5&layers=BFTFFTTTTTTTFTTTTTTTTTTFT.

I tried analyzing the Waze provided route but didn’t see anything irregular. Is it acceptable practice to close these out using “Not Identified” or should these edits stay active for an Area Manager?

If you search the Wiki you will find a section on Update Requests (UR’s) which will answer your questions.

Cheers.

And consider installing the URO script which will show you if a conversation is on-going with beta testers. It’s a new feature in test.

Also, don’t confuse UR’s (Update Requests) with MP’s (Map Problems). The latter are automatically generated by the system when it detects some sort of fault and their icons lack the little Wazer badge.

If I understand correctly, we should avoid marking any MP’s as not identified. Sometimes, old MP’s that have already been solved might pop up again because of the way the system evaluates things. I’ve just been marking MP’s as solved if the situation they describe is already corrected. If I can’t fix an MP or it’s cause isn’t obvious, I just leave it alone for someone else to look at. If there’s nothing else to work on (which really never happens in central NJ) then I might put together some messages asking for help with any MP’s I couldn’t figure out.
