I must say, Transport Department, your imagination is beyond me.
I just don’t know how to map this on WME. Set the segment temporarily to two-way and add restriction instead of Closure? Not a very good hack I’d like to do, and I also need to remember to change the segment back to one-way in the right direction after the race. :x argh…I’d rather just leave it as it is.
should this one be set to one-way (B->A) closure only?
It’s just a short segment and it seems no one can get there after the closure. Why does it change to 2-way? :?:
I think it’s both directions as it was not specified by the traffic notice which direction is closed.
It makes little difference anyway, because all inbound segments (at node A) are closed for A->B direction
You are right. The change is to allow vehicles who entered the closed area (before closure has started) to be able to leave (during closure period).
I hope we will have a mark-up map to show the closure and I believe TD should have one and should publish to public. It will be much easier to get the closure done correctly.
Anyway, just left what you have done. It should be good enough. Sometimes it is better we miss the closure rather than making a closure on wrong segments. Driver can figure out by themselves when they physically see the closure and follow the diversion sign
What is the difference between filling this Google Form and submitting via Event mode in WME?
I’ve always been using Event mode in WME and it still shows up in Waze Event Page

Then you have known it already. Possibly you are closing to be a Local Champs or Local co-coordinator
I was actually getting MTE notifications from Waze app the other day (which is good), except it got the ‘day of week’ wrong for me (probably due to HK being in a faster timezone than rest of the world).
For example, the HK 10km Challenge (a long-distance running race) was held in the early morning of Sunday Nov 5, 2017 but both the smart phone notification and the inbox preview says Saturday

only until I clicked into that inbox item and open it to see the big picture of closure
then I see the date as Nov 5, 2017 (which is correct, but it still doesn’t tell me Nov 5 is Sunday instead of Saturday in this screen)

Imagine if I wasn’t the person who created this closure myself, and I didn’t pay attention to the details, I will be easily fooled by the notification and the inbox preview
I still have something I don’t know. Is there any guidelines as to what event is being classified as “Major” traffic event? How major is major? or is MTE simply a Waze buzzword equivalent to any type of closure?
In HK, most closure occurs in late night/early mornings, and most of them are road works / water pipe works etc.
I am thinking whether I can be lazy and just input these closure without creating a new event in WME (and only create MTE for events that are held in day time like Formula-E, Marathon/Triathlon race). If I submit MTE for every single road works, people will be getting too much notifications which probably do not affect them, then they might decide to turn off MTE notification at all.
However, ‘probably do not affect them’ is a subjective view by myself with the assumption that there are less drivers on the road in late night/early mornings, as editors, we should still be helping these Wazers who do drive regularly in late night (by getting them notified).
How to strike a balance? (by event nature, time of the day of the closure, length of time of the closure, area covered?)
For the time being, I am inputting every closure event announced by TD as an event in WME, so that no closure segment will have no associated event, but you know, this increases the time it takes to complete inputting one closure.
Keith, have you submitted the logs when you saw the day of the week is wrong? Could you copy the permalink with the closure segment(s) please? I’ll forward it to Waze to investigate. IIRC I did see someone reported it but somehow I couldn’t find it on the forum or centercode :?
I know it is time consuming. I’m glad you are here to help. When you are busy and struggling to input the closure, please post it on the ‘Requests forum’. Someone or me will do it.
Ah…I didn’t. And the closure is gone now because it occured in the past (Nov 5, 2017). Maybe I should submit it the next time I see it. :-/
no problem. I feel it must be fixed and the date and time information is very important as a SatNav.

MTE alerts repeatedly came up with wrong ‘day of week’:
The two MTE are
- ASICS HK 10km city Race on Sunday (Nov 12), and
- Tsing Yi North Coastal Road Works from Tuesday (Nov 14) to Friday (Nov 17) this week.
Both alerts got the ‘day of week’ wrong being Saturday (instead of Sunday) and Monday to Thursday (instead of Tuesday to Friday)

I submitted logs twice to Waze, respectively at 15:40 on Nov 11 and 15:48 on Nov 13 . Both times are HK time (GMT +0800)
Does any other Wazers in HK experience the same? I believe it is due to timezone problem because both Closures starts in early hours in HK which is still the previous day in most places in the rest of the world.
The closure details have just been announced by TD. That’s a pretty looonnnnggg list  Let me see if I can do it in some time.

Sorry Keith. I have reading difficulties can can’t read more than 100 words
